Hoping that the Battle of Florida will be a meatgrinder. I don't expect much from the Isles or Caps, however.

That's a dream draw for the NHL. Only way it could be better is if NYI and Caps switched places.

Pretty good game in Florida today. Who's everyone rooting for in this series? (Other than a meteor.)

Multiple overtimes.

Honestly, I don't know. Both teams annoy me to no end. But if the Bruins advance, I think their odds are better against the Lightning—the Panthers are a better 5v5 team and a better defensive team.

Yeah, I've found myself rooting for the Lightning in this game, too. Just glad one of these teams will be eliminated right off the bat.

Bob with some great saves at the end to let the Panthers hold on. Ticky tack penalty call on the Bolts that led to the game changing goal. Vasy looked very good. TB had a good chance to steal this one. Gotta get some more sustained offense—had a few bursts but long quiet stretches.

Someone please explain to me why there wasn't a boarding call just before the second goal. He rode the guy headfirst into the boards -- looks very dangerous.

Because the Capital put himself in an extremely precarious position all on his own. A puck-carrier ducking down like that anywhere on the ice is making himself unnecessarily vulnerable but, do that near the boards? You will get no sympathy from officials whatsoever.

I’d still be playing men’s league if I hadn’t lunged in similar fashion and been clipped in the side of the head for my Lindrossian 3rd concussion in a 5 year span. 100% on me.

The Hurricanes tilted the ice last night 17 - 1 shot advantage in the third and 38 -12 overall shot discrepancy. Even though the Islanders somehow had the lead for most of the game the dam was going to break. And it eventually did. The sound inside PNC was deafening when Aho scored the tying goal and the winning goal by Martinook was even louder. The rink said that the noise reached 114 decibels.

It's incredible - I go all year not thinking about Tom Wilson at all, and then the playoffs come and my hatred is immediately rekindled. Fuck that guy forever.

Verhaeghe is now tied for 3rd all time in playoff OT goals scored. He's got 5. Ridiculous.

Sakic has 8, Rocket Richard has 6. Verhaeghe, Glenn Anderson, Patrick Kane, and Corey Perry all have 5. BUT!

Sakic did it in 172 games.

Richard did it in 132 games.

Anderson in 225. Perry in 197. Kane in 143.

Verhaeghe has done it in 47.

Caps now down to 2 of their top five defensemen. Jensen/Sandin haven't played all series, and the Rangers knocked just knocked out van Riemsdyk (after concussing another defenesment two games ago)

Capitals coach should be fired for that mess. Who pulls the goalie shorthanded? After they kill the penalty, there's still 45 seconds to go, going 6 on 5. You're only down 1 goal. Instead you go down 2 with just under a minute to go.

You're down 3-0 in the series, 3-2 in the game, and you'll have 45 seconds of 6 on 5 play after the penalty (and in all likelihood, the puck will be in your own zone so who knows how much 6 on 5 time you'll actually get once the penalty expires). The caps didn't stand a chance in this series. They weren't going to score 6 on 5 with 45 seconds left. They weren't going to score if they pulled the goalie down a man. They had no business being in the playoffs and the fact that they were the least bad of the WC contenders down the stretch is the only reason they got in.
