The kid was dirt poor living in a tiny house in Texas with his family when he met Rich. He could barely read and certainly couldn't function as a normal adult when he came to Boston, and I'm almost positive no one in his family went to college. Kid has done well for himself considering his past, with a huge assist from Rich obviously.I'm sorry but did Adolfo earn a 6 figure job or become a SEAL or something? The amount of "you made its" from the people from of his past made it seem it's something other than what it really is which is a lazy, at rare times and insubordonate screw up who is choosing to leave his job to go back to school.
I agree completely with this. This kid could have been a ward of the state for his entire existence, and instead he is making something of himself and going to college after coming from nothing. He deserves the accolades. Good for him, and I hope he succeeds. The kid was dirt poor living in a tiny house in Texas with his family when he met Rich. Agreed with the bolded, yes they were much better before they were forced to go sports talk. And yeah, Wallach is as exciting as opera, but his contribution is minimal. As I said before, the show lost a lot when Crash was forced out but is the show ANY worse than anything on EEI?Have you not been on SOSH before? Wallach totally does suck and Fred is grumpy but we love him. I moved back to New England in 2011 so T&R on the sportshub is all I know. Adolpho has not been funny for that entire time. That said, it was awesome to hear the old stuff today because I can see why he is/was such a big part of the show. The older stuff is really funny and he was a totally different personality than he is today. I won't say that I'll miss him, but I can see why T&R will.
I believe his Grandfather shot his dad.He does do well getting street audio, at least he did before he became sick of it about a year ago. I don't blame Adolfo for the emphasis on him because that's Toucher and Rich's fault. They're the one with Adolfo segments that suck and they're in charge.
Agreeing with TFP and The Realness, I don't think many realize how much of a disaster he was from unable to mail a letter to living with no heat. I'm happy for him, he grew up with major disaster of house hold. Didn't his father shoot his mother by accident once? he could easily be on welfare or in jail instead he's working with what he's got and has had a rather successful career coming from basically an illiterate adult child to holding a job on a #1 rated show for 10+ years.
Not even close (though to be fair I haven't listened to EEI in probably over 5 years outside of Sox games). I was one of the posters that has been frustrated with the show lately but I still love it and listen almost every day, though not as much as before.Agreed with the bolded, yes they were much better before they were forced to go sports talk. Appointment listening is absolutely right. Chili Guy, the Gunner, Intern Nick, the effing champ audio, Fred's interview with Incubus...those were all incredible radio spots and had me in stitches. They're a totally different show now (with the same soul) but that was just peak radio back then. All organic, none of it felt scripted or forced, and they sounded like a group of guys having the time of their lives. I wish there were a lot of old clips available.I believe his Grandfather shot his dad.
I still think that pre-Sports hub, T&R were the best thing on the radio. It was appointment listening for me. Things changed when they flipped to sports. They are still great, but man do I miss the old days of Rich's movie reviews and stupid drinking contests like the effing champ. Also when Crash interviewed Alan Thicke.
I still have a bunch of clips from the bcn days, it's almost painful to listen to them with how great they were. I stopped listening for a few years because frankly, sports talk radio isn't something I want to wake up early for but I've been listening again because of iTunes. I still listen to the segments of The Chachi's I have often, they're better to listen to now than they were when they were first aired!Appointment listening is absolutely right. Chili Guy died, I know that much. Not sure on Gunner.I still have a bunch of clips from the bcn days, it's almost painful to listen to them with how great they were. Speaking of Gunner and the Chili Guy, whatever happened to those guys?
From what I could gather from the time Adolfo went to go meet Gunner at work he runs the Kernwood Bridge between Danvers and Beverly as a job. He took the commuter rail and walked to it on the North Shore which isn't leaving much outside of Kernwood and the bridge in Gloucester that I can think of. Scares me everytime I go over it.Chili Guy died a few years ago. I think I remember the story being that he was in jail for a while and died in there but the story was a long time ago.
Gunner was controlling some draw bridge around Boston last I heard. He called into the show a while ago when no one had heard from him for a long time and said hello. It was funny, he something to Fred to the effect of "you don't have to call me Gunner anymore, my name is Mike". Fred paused for a second then called him Gunner in his next sentence.
Edit: I would also love to hear those clips

Any chance you can share any of those clips? I'd love a trip down memory lane.
That completely sucks about the Chili Guy! I met him 3 times *he would only talk to me once* and it was like meeting a celebrity. RIP big guy, your audio with "Cadolfo" was priceless!Chili Guy died a few years ago. I heard it. It was kind of funny hearing Breuer ramble. The one thing that annoys me about Fred in Deflategate Talk is that he keeps putting up a disclaimer about how he doesn't "care" about it or its effects on Brady, yet he went out of his way in this bit to try and credit Breuer about his Jastremski claims so he can continue to clearly insinuate wrongdoing on Brady's part. He flat out inferred the other day that this story indicated Brady "paid off" Jastremski and he "would do the same."No reactions to the Brewer stuff? I can't say it was great radio, but I found it strangely compelling and a perfect encapsulation of the surreal shitshow that is Deflategate. Fred said it best: "We're talking to a comedian about vacation incident with an equipment guy about some deflated football stuff that happen 16 months ago."
The Brewer WTF podcast definitely helped as Brewer seems to be pretty loopy.
I arrived at work just as Bruer was spending 10 minutes trying to get the google box to show him pictures of Jastremski and McNally. He said no on Jastremski, but I didn't hear the results on McNally. Could he identify one of them as the guy he talked to?No reactions to the Brewer stuff? They put him on hold, and then he located the email and exclaimed in glee that it was from Jastremski. I'm not sure he ever "positively ID'd" Jastremski from a photo or anything, but Fred immediately put down any suggestion that Breuer didn't in fact meet him.I arrived at work just as Bruer was spending 10 minutes trying to get the google box to show him pictures of Jastremski and McNally. I caught and missed pretty much the same stuff as shaggydog. So Fred is going with Breuer talked in person to JJ about deflategate, when right before I got out of the car he was looking at a picture of JJ and said, no that's not the guy I met? I'm so fucking confused. They put him on hold, and then he located the email and exclaimed in glee that it was from Jastremski. Nailed it.I noticed they were tweeting with Intern Nick a few weeks ago. I wonder if they would dive that deep into the past to bring him back, although most people probably wouldn't know him.
He must have completely exhausted the Gemelli fortune.Nailed it.
Probably a topic for another thread but I've been on this board now for 14-15 years and my interest in sports has taken a severe nosedize in the last 3 years since I have moved out of market. You know, Deflategate has really made me less of a sportsfan. Seriously, this thing has gone on so long that Jim Breuer has become some sort of actor in this shitshow.
I just don't give a shit about anything (other than the Sox). Suspend Brady for a year, suspend him for six hours, I don't give a fuck any more.
Look at the number of posts between the main board and the sports sub forums. Outside of deflategate you are not alone.Probably a topic for another thread but I've been on this board now for 14-15 years and my interest in sports has taken a severe nosedize in the last 3 years since I have moved out of market.
I watch all the Patriots Games, as many Bruins and Red Sox Games as possible, and take my boys to as many AHL and AA-MLB games as possible because I enjoy them, but my passion is gone. I don't live and die during the regular season like I used to. Could be age and kids or it could be being out of market but it isn't the same.
Yup, 42. My boys are 12 and 9Do you guys happen to be middle aged-ish fathers with careers? If so, this is what happens. Life stages.
