I have zero idea how that hit is suspension worthy. Ultimately it doesn't matter but that is absolutely baffling to me.

If I had to hazard a guess, it was 1-2 games for Rule 48 (the important part of the video was calling the hit "mistimed." After that, it doesn't matter the intent.), 3-4 games for the name on the back of the sweater.

Good riddance, hopefully

edit to add: if it isn't Rinaldo, this is a fine, maybe 1 game - but that's OK with me

Tossed tonight, match penalty for a hit to the head.

Wonder if he'll be the first to be suspended in both the AHL and NHL at the same time.

Wow. I thought he kept himself mostly under control for the first half of the season, but once a shithead. . .

Between here and everywhere.
Rinaldo had him lined up for a clean hit - and the defenseman looses the puck, bends at the waist to look back for the puck, and starts to spin. There was absolutely nothing Rinaldo could have done there. That's a penalty based on name, and reputation.

Agreed, both penalties questionable at best. I think his career should be over because he serves no purpose whatsoever on a NHL roster.

Yeah, I agree. No way that should have been a suspension. I actually feel bad for him, and that makes me feel dirty.

You live with the reputation you create... but I don't see where that is even a definite penalty. If the referee lets it go against the team I root for that wouldn't even get me hot under the collar. I wonder if the referee decided to just get him off the ice though - his arm was up for a penalty call before the hit. I think Rinaldo may already have been going for a high stick and looking to take someone with him. The referee didn't have a good angle on the hit either.

He definitely had him for the high stick but I don't even think it's possible Rinaldo knew that prior to the hit.
