unfortunately ballet box will get stuffed for StantonBenny in the final vote competition.
I would have had all but starting catcher in the lineup with better odds of making the team at the start of the season. Even Nunez.Who would have guessed on Opening Day that Moreland would be an All-Star?
Nice re-signing, DDski.
Brantley was a players's pickKind of surprised beni didn't make the reserve cut...Brantley (131 wRC+) and Springer (113 wRC+) are pretty weak picks for OF reserve...both beni and rosario are better picks.
Not to detract from Mitchy Twobag’s performance to date, but what’s amazing is how historically bad 1B in the AL has been. There is no real All Star at that spot. All 5 in the final vote are better than the starter Abreu this year. Not that he couldn't be a productive hitter, but to be among the best at an offensive position at his age is amazing.
In addition to Moreland, DD put up the Martinez signing and the Pearce acquisition (SSS I know, but what a nice start), and had the balls to dump Hanley. If there was an All Star Game for Poo Bahs, he'd likely receive the most votes.Who would have guessed on Opening Day that Moreland would be an All-Star?

Executive of the year award is coming up in November. Dave should be a strong candidate for that.In addition to Moreland, DD put up the Martinez signing and the Pearce acquisition (SSS I know, but what a nice start), and had the balls to dump Hanley. I noticed that too. 4 qualifiers (Mitch doesn't qualify yet) have a league average bat as opposed to 12 last year. Though Mitch's wRC+138 would have been tied for 1st in the AL last season too.Not to detract from Mitchy Twobag’s performance to date, but what’s amazing is how historically bad 1B in the AL has been. The players voted a few weeks ago in June which is kind of silly. 10D has been on a tear since then and is better deserving of the vote.Brantley was a players's pick
I tend to think along these lines as well (although more for pitchers than everyday players). But yes, I view everything through the lens of "does this make the Red Sox more or less likely to win the World Series as often as possible." Getting Sox players on the AS team (neutralizing of course that I want them to perform well enough to be All-Stars) has some minor negative impact viewed through this lens (less rest, increased pay for the player, slight injury risk). There may be some countervailing points though (going to AS game more likely in Boston because of fans makes free agent more likely to sign in Boston, maybe a player gets a tip from a teammate). But taken as a whole the AS game is likely a net negative in likelihood of winning the WS. So I don't particularly want 10D on the AS team.I bring this up yearly but isn`t it better for Beni to get some time off? Even when it comes to arbitration, isn`t it better for his resume, which makes it worse for the Sox monetarily.
True. Beni has an fWAR of 3.4 now and has even jumped up into a tie with JD Martinez, if you can believe that. Brantley is at 1.2. Benintendi is one awesome player, right now.The players voted a few weeks ago in June which is kind of silly. 10D has been on a tear since then and is better deserving of the vote.
