"Ronnie Perkins just barfed right before the snap. And then tackles the runner"

I want this guy on my team!

I liked the combination of Zappe and Cunningham on that drive. The Taysom Hill role drill.
Same here. It's unlike BB to be that creative so I'm guessing that was a Bill O'Brien move

Jack Jones is number 13, right? Because the Pats have a guy on offense (Pitts) who's also #13

I know the Patriots are using the preseason more as a decision-maker on depth, but with the pure shittiness of the 2nd/3rd string guys this is looking like a DFL (Dead Fucking Last) team. To be clear, I am thinking 9-8 will be last in the AFC East so it is more a criticism of how mediocre this team will likely be, not that they'll fall off a cliff.

Mac plays poorly with all 1’s:

“His o-line is awful and his coaching isn’t good enough.”

Zappe plays poorly with 3’s, 4’s, and guys that’ll be working at Geico next month:

“He’s so awful.”

I love New England sports fandom. I really do.

In fairness, both can be true.

I thought Zappe looked absolutely awful and if there is an injury to Mac we are going to see some ugly games this year. In a year with a potentially top 5 to 10 defense I would prefer a legit veteran backup behind Mac for some stability where there might be hope to scrape by for a couple wins.

All that being said, it's the last game of the preseason so literally nothing should be taken from this game (other than Cunningham will be cut) and we're on to real football.

Edit: one thing to add is that they would have gave Cunningham more snaps at QB if Zappe didn't look so bad. It was clear that it was important to give Zappe the reps at that point and see if he could sink or swim against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

I’m 10 minutes into watching this game on DVR and am confident that absolutely nothing I’m seeing is in any way relevant to the 2023 Patriots team.

Only watched the highlight package not the game (Mookie Mania took my time) but I'm not inspired for this season, especially if Cunningham and Taylor are cut.

I think they are both cut. That being said, Pats will be fine. There was such a shortage of starters playing in that game that it means close to nothing for the regular season.

What’s hard as a fan is that you come away from these preseason games and you think… man there’s very little to be excited about with this team. Can’t move the ball. Can’t score. The other teams seem to have little problem doing either against the Pats.

The punter looks awesome though.

NFL preseason has gotten so weird with regard to play time.
They have become pointless.

When they played 4 preseason games, for the most part, you'd see the starters play a series or two in game one, then they'd play pretty much the whole first quarter in game 2, then game 3 would be the tell; they'd play the entire first half, then a series or two in the third quarter to get them game ready, then game 4 was a mail it in game, mostly used to evaluate bubble guys.

Now; with joint practices a thing, why bother at all with these games? How many series did we see the 1's on offense and defense? What does anyone see in these games that's a true indicator of how the team is actually shaping up?

Was that score last night an indicator of where either of these teams actually are?

I started to watch it, then got bored with how pointless it was to spend my time watching any of it.

And the NFL charges fans full boat as part of the season ticket package for these games?

They should be free; back when myself and my friends had season tickets, we'd give the preseason tickets away to friends who had kids so they could see a game.

What's even worse; there are people who actually bet on these games.

Might be time to admit you've got a problem.

Not sure if keeping Cunningham on the roster is going to move the needle, although in all likelihood, he would probably end up on the practice squad without another team claiming him if he gets cut.

I'd like to see them find a way to keep Taylor on the roster, we'll see what happens.
