I don't think Hoyer being unvaccinated is a huge deal to them. Stidham being unavailable right now is ridiculous if he thinks he has any chance of making the roster.Or Hoyer due to being unvaccinated?

Yeah, he's done. We haven't seen anything from him to indicate he's any better than Jake Dolegala anyway.Stidham is quickly seeing his NFL career disappear.
David Andrews likes him! Maybe should be inducted into the HoF before the season starts. On the penultimate play of the session, Jones surveyed the field after play-action again — this time from left to right — and fired a touchdown to Gunner Olszewski that had good velocity and once again showed off Jones' anticipation and timing. Jones ended with another touchdown, to N'Keal Harry.
After the play, as the team got setup for field goals, Josh McDaniels and Jones were in a deep discussion about the finer points of Patriots quarterbacking when Andrews walked by and turned around to listen in. When they were done, Andrews had about the biggest smile I've ever seen on him. Then, he took his right arm and put it on Jones' shoulder. Andrews gave him a little squeeze on the shoulder, while still wearing that big smile.
I guess we're to blame since we're eating it up, but the overheated press coverage of how each QB is doing in each practice session seems way over the top."Cam Newton just had the best period of camp by either QB." Technically true. Two practices. Take a breath, Jeff.
Looks like you were correct.I don't think Hoyer being unvaccinated is a huge deal to them. Stidham being unavailable right now is ridiculous if he thinks he has any chance of making the roster.
One guy says that Cam had a really strong performance, one guy says that neither QB was good.View: https://twitter.com/gregabedard/status/1420774159278292992?s=21
Greg Bedard: Lighter day for Patriots. Neither QB was good but Newton was better than Jones, who was just off. Still everything is quicker and In better rhythm with Jones.
All of thisI am going to try my best to ignore this nonsense until I see these guys QB the team in preseason games. And I am going to attempt to temper my enthusiasm then.
I plan to lap it up every day and keep rooting for Mac to take the job by Labor Day.I am going to try my best to ignore this nonsense until I see these guys QB the team in preseason games. And I am going to attempt to temper my enthusiasm then.
In fairness, Jeff's was about one particular session of the day. He may have been good in that session, but meh overall today. One guy says that Cam had a really strong performance, one guy says that neither QB was good.
Alllllllrighty then.
To that very point:In fairness, Jeff's was about one particular session of the day. He may have been good in that session, but meh overall today.
The Athletic Recap• On the whole, neither quarterback has been markedly better through two practices, but Newton’s final period Thursday was strong. He still sprinkles in some bad misses – more of a spotlight there because it was such an issue last season – but we’ll see if this was a momentum-creating period.
...
• Newton is 17 of 30 with two interceptions through two practices. Jones is 17 of 32 without any picks.
The media is making way too much out of this. It’s like every pass and rep is dissected and is a referendum on who starts 6-7 weeks from now. Keeping a tally on who “wins the day” is stupid too. They’re not even in pads yet.I think we may be going too far around the bend here though. This stuff *does* matter on some level. Do we really think BB doesn't think what these guys look like in training camp matters?
I'd say the issue is that the folks serving up takes are, for the most part, being too superficial (hence the completion percentage), but how they do out there is important.
And it’s perfectly reasonable for Cam to be the current starter before Mac has even played a preseason snap. But if Mac progresses like we hope and Cam sucks like we expect, the changing of the guard is certainly coming at some point.BB will keep saying that right up until the day he doesn't say it. Hard to hang too much on that.
Good career movePatriots QB Jarrett Stidham to miss 12 weeks after undergoing back surgery, according to reports
Yes, he's extended his time in the NFL by 11 weeks with this decision.Good career move
People may end up disappointed this year when Cam looks half decent, having professional receivers all around him.And it’s perfectly reasonable for Cam to be the current starter before Mac has even played a preseason snap. Looked much more smooth and natural than most of the throws we saw him attempt last year, which often required some very awkward contortions just to get enough juice on them.BB will keep saying that right up until the day he doesn't say it. Hard to hang too much on that.
Nice to see Cam make a throw to his right like that highlight.
Not sure anyone will be disappointed if Cam is throwing TD passes. His problems last year were certainly related to talent and mechanics/health. We’ll see this year what the real Cam is now that there is talent around him.People may end up disappointed this year when Cam looks half decent, having professional receivers all around him.
You can see it in the videos. He winds up like Dizzy Dean to make those throws.PFW/Unfiltered guys have been watching every day and earlier today, I believe, but possibly yesterday, they were saying that Cam continues to appear as though he has to put virtually EVERYTHING into it when he throws deep. FWIW.
Yeah, I didnt want to be a debbie downer, but that deep TD throw shown above reminded me more of last year. He has to put himself completely into it, and his form is still pretty ugly. You can see it in the videos. He winds up like Dizzy Dean to make those throws.
Because Cam’s throwing shoulder is toast and has been for a few years now. It’s why he’s wildly inaccurate at times in terms of both ball placement and depth. How is it that Cam has to put everything he has into downfield throws, as ripped as he is… but flabbily unimpressive McCorkle is somehow effortless?
Exactly. BB committed to nothing by saying that.BB will keep saying that right up until the day he doesn't say it. Hard to hang too much on that.
Clearly, a lot of it is a style thing with Bedard. He wants the Brady-style of QB (read the defense, change the play at the line, drop back and get the ball out quickly, go through progressions, use the whole field, throw guys open). That just isn't and will never be Cam.If you're expecting Bedard to be unbiased when comparing these quarterbacks I got some bad news for you
I'm not sure I agree here.BB will keep saying that right up until the day he doesn't say it. Hard to hang too much on that.
Nice to see Cam make a throw to his right like that highlight.
He's coached the Pats for 21 years and Brady was his starter headed into camp for 18 of them.I'm not sure I agree here.
I dont think BB is promising or guaranteeing a full season for Cam as a starter, but the only other time I can think of that BB implied or stated a longterm starter was his Brady scoff when asked if Brady was the starter going forward.
If Cam straight out sucks, then there will be a discussion. But I think we see a slightly more stable Cam this season - not a fantastic arm, but lots more talent to play with - and Mac redshirts the year.
Ok. So has he ever confirmed a week 1 starter prior to the first preseason game even being played? He's coached the Pats for 21 years and Brady was his starter headed into camp for 18 of them.
