I'm sure you have the right set of information with which to assess the coaching staff.

That's an interesting point. Someone pointed out on Twitter the other day that all the lines between 3-4 and 4-3 defenses are blurring as nickel defenses become more prevalent. Maybe this is a kind of nod to that - in passing situations, they need that 4-man-front-one-gap expertise no matter what the base D is.Morgan's Magic Snowplow said:
The most interesting part of this is that Daly appears to have exclusively coached in 4-3, predominantly one gapping schemes (Minnesota, 2006-2008 and 2012- and St Louis 2009-11). We saw a little bit more 3-4 this year after some of the injuries and I've been wondering whether BB would move back in that direction. This suggests that the answer is no, which is fine with me.
If anything, they're a little short on the young up-and-comers. Guys like Boyer (2006), O'Shea (2003), Daboll (2000), McDaniels (2001), Flores (2004), and Patricia (2004) have been in the NFL a while now, even though they're all still pretty young.Shelterdog said:It's probably not a coincidence that he loses two experienced really guys and goes and hires two experienced guys. He's always had a combination of old pros and home-grown coaches. I'm guessing that's the chemistry he likes on a coaching staff, but we don't really know what he's thinking.

Former #Patriots LB Coach Pepper Johnson is joining the Buffalo #Bills according to @coachingsearch
http://bostonherald.com/sports/patriots_nfl/new_england_patriots/2014/02/patriots_notebook_detailing_his_departure_pepper“Yes, and (he’s) the guy we’re going to beat next year twice,” Johnson said. “Hey, I appreciate everything; that was Bill Belichick as a friend. That was my friend. That was the guy that patted me on the back when I first came into the league and shook my hand and everything.
“There’s definitely a love, and I don’t even have to mention the respect that I have for him. Bill, it was tough for him, tough for me to walk away, but by the same token, he knows the passion that I have for the game. And I could not do that there with the Patriots. I needed to come out here and bring a Super Bowl championship to Buffalo.”
The New England Patriots are losing one of the front-office executives who was in the war room with Bill Belichick during last weekend’s 2014 NFL draft. Patriots director of college scouting Jon Robinson is joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ESPN’s Mike Reiss and Field Yates reported Wednesday. Robinson reunites with new Bucs general manager Jason Licht, who worked in the Patriots’ front office from 2001 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2011. It appears Robinson will keep the same position with the Bucs that he held with the Patriots, since Tampa Bay’s director of college scouting, Eric Stokes, is leaving to join the Miami Dolphins’ staff, Reiss reported. Robinson first was hired by the Patriots in 2002 as an area scout. He was promoted from a regional scout to assistant director of college scouting to director of college scouting, the position he’d held since 2009.
