Here we go...
QB (3) T.Brady, J.Garoppolo, J.Brissett
No need for explanation here. The G.O.A.T. and The Kid (Get it? Like, baby goat) are locks. Brissett could be gone in favor of depth elsewhere but I'm not sure that actually happens.
Hard cut: None
RB (6) M.Gillislee, J.White, R.Burkhead, D.Lewis, B.Bolden, J.Develin
First 4 were simple. Bolden is too versatile to drop. Develin is too important to the run game.
Hard cut: Foster
WR (6) B.Cooks, C.Hogan, D.Amendola, M.Mitchell, M.Slater, A.Carr
Again first 4 were simple. Slater is all world ST. Carr looks to be the guy who'll benefit from the Edelmania injury.
Hard cut: Lucien, Hollister
TE (2) R.Gronkowski, D.Allen
With Gronks fragility having one backup could be foolish but, I think we see a different Gronk this year with all those incentives he can earn. Three TE sets either go to Develin or an OL.
Hard cut: O'Shaughnessey, Hollister
C (1) D.Andrews
Yup.
Hard cut: None
G (3) S.Mason, J.Thuney, T.Karras
Pretty simple. Karras can backup C and both G spots.
Hard cut: None
T (4) N.Solder, M.Cannon, C.Fleming, L.Waddle
I will continue to complain about how Solder is massively overrated. Unfortunately he's our starting LT. Cannon on the right with Fleming as the swing and Waddle, when healthy, is an adequate backup. I was hoping one of Garcia, McDermott or Rich would show something in preseason. They didn't. Garcia may got to IR though.
Hard cut: None
DE (3) D.Wise, G.Grissom, T.Flowers
With Rivers out, Grissom sneaks in. This crew is actually pretty talented and with some of the DTs and LBs being able to flex out to DE this is deeper than it looks.
Hard cut: None
DT (5) A.Branch, M.Brown, V.Valentine, A.Butler, L.Guy
Another really talented front. Butler played his way in. All of these guys can pressure and disrupt.
Hard cut: Hamilton
ILB(4) D.Hightower, D.Harris, H.Langi, E.Roberts
Harris allows Hightower to move around which should be interesting. Langi looks good. I don't like Roberts but the coaching staff seems to.
Hard cut: None
OLB(3) K.VanNoy, S.McClellin, M.Flowers
This group appears thin but we'll probably see a lot of moving around to make the personnel work. Newly acquired Flowers makes it over Freeny.
Hard cut: Freeny
CB (5) M.Butler, S.Gilmore, E.Rowe, J.Jones, J.Coleman
With Cyrus out Coleman sneaks in. The rest of the guys were locks.
Hard cut: DJ Killings (solely for his name.)
SS (3) P.Chung, D.Travis, J.Richards
This was probably the hardest group to break down. Chung is a lock. Ebner and King are good STers but Richards is better on D and I think Travis is going to be a playmaker. Ebner is a great story but he's limited. IF they finally give him a chance to return punts then maybe he stays.
Hard cut: Ebner, King
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon
Pretty easy.
Hard cut: None
ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona
Ditto
Hard cut: None
Total players: 53
