For one night at least, a Grizz win is worth it.
I'm with DeJesus — taking a patient approach for a while. A while is a lot longer than two games (played mostly with either of our two starting centers, and only two guys who have ever really played together.)it's early but are you long for D.Lo or is he "All-Star talent"/ballast for your next great player?
I'm happy to have the pick roll over one more year. For one night at least, a Grizz win is worth it.
That's great, I was interested in seeing the "way too early" laundry list to add to Steph/Klay/Dray for the 2020-21 run.But if in a few months the good flashes still aren't outweighing the bad ones, I'll definitely start to fantasize about other max players we could flip him for. On a more practical, "better positional fit" level, there are guys like Covington, Tobias Harris, and Aaron Gordon. At the "white whale" end of the spectrum: Simmons, KAT, or Giannis if they become disgruntled and try to force their way off their teams.
For now, I'm mostly enjoying it, even as all the young'uns take their lumps. The whole "just try to make it to the playoffs healthy" thing was actually getting a little tired.
Barkley is late to the party imho. This team is going nowhere fast with their leaders, Kerr, all but proclaiming this season a train wreck prior to last nights game. They may well be in for a rough season but its too early to make these calls imho. Their talent level drop-off after their top three or four players - ex-Thompson- is pretty significant.
That said, the abbreviated pre-season means that Kerr & company has had a fairly limited time to evaluate their roster and scheme to get Curry some better looks (teams are obviously daring everyone else but him to beat them).
I don't doubt that the hot takes are going to come fast and furious - people everywhere are going to be giddily tripping over themselves to "call it" now. But I am not about to proclaim the Warriors season over or agree with Barkley that they won't make the playoffs until we get a few more than two data points.
Howard has made such an impact on the Lakers second unit and playing some with LeBron. Very impressive start to his "new" Laker career.
Small sample of course but this is the best DefRat they have had since their '14-'15 playoff season. For anyone to say Kyrie has been anything less than ridiculously incredible this first week, regardless of your opinion of him, is ridiculously incredible to me.The Nets have been really shitty defensively so far. Good to see Kyrie making them less than the sum of their parts.
You're right, I was just glancing at raw point totals, my bad.Small sample of course but this is the best DefRat they have had since their '14-'15 playoff season. Their Rel DRtg is the worst it's been in 4 seasons. As long as we're looking at SSS and all. You're right, I was just glancing at raw point totals, my bad.
Good thread, assists have always been dubious. In the late 80s-90s they were obviously easier to get across the league. On the contrary, in the 1960s they were much more difficult to garner; which is evidenced by the guys averaging lower assists per game despite the game involving substantially more field goals made, and way less isolation play than today. I think the rule for most scorekeepers during that time period was that assists were only rewarded if the player didn't take any dribbles before shooting. It is entirely possible that guys like Cousy and Oscar were averaging 15-20 apg if you used the 1990 standard.Fun thread by Ben Falk showing Porzingis' "assists":

I realized that the stat was broken, but I honestly didn't realize it was this broken. That's just complete garbage.
