For seven minutes of playing time, he burned his medical redshirt - The Athletic

But when he checked into the Big South Championship game against UNC Asheville four minutes into the second half, on what could be the Lancers’ next-to-last game of the season (as a 16-seed, they’ll play No. 1 seed Houston in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday), Hicks burned his shot at that redshirt season. An improbable confluence of circumstances put Longwood in a situation to need Hicks; but it was Hicks who answered the call. “I told Coach, if you need me, you got me,’’ Hicks says. “For a program that has done so much for me, that’s the least I could do.”
In the Big South tournament semifinal, starting big man Elijah Tucker got banged in the thigh, but the seemingly innocuous injury turned into a real issue. Blood pooled from the contusion, meriting a hospital visit and stay, and knocking Tucker out of the championship game. Knowing his team would be shorthanded, Hicks tossed and turned all night, mulling over his own situation. He talked with his dad, Brian, who was staying at the team hotel, the next day, and then sent a text to assistant coach Quinn McDowell. Aldrich shared the text. Just talked to my dad and I’m ready if y’all need me. The team comes first in this situation. I’d be pissed if I passed up on that.

I don't know anything, but as a UVM person, tell me how they pull this off tonight. What am I looking at?
From a Duke perspective, Filipowski tends to dominate lesser sized / talented big men. So I think you kind of have to hope he gets into foul trouble or something.

Also, UVM likes to jack a lot of 3s, but they're not a great shooting team. But it only takes one great shooting night.

Duke is coming in having lost two in a row. Historically, this has meant an early tournament exit for Duke.

I'd be surprised if UVM wins, and I'm pretty down on Duke. Surprised, but not stunned.

It’s all college hoops man. We watch for the drama and upsets and buzzer beaters but the product itself is garbage.
I like this better than the NBA (the drama).

Non-Celtics NBA is kinda boring. Same players, same action.

That said, the offense that half was offensive.

Ty Berry, NU's 2nd or 3rd best player, tore his meniscus in mid February. He was also one of their best 3 point shooters and coming into his own. Since then, NU has struggled on offense, because after Bouie all they have is Langborg and Barnheizer who are quasi-decent offensive players. No one else can put the ball in the hoop with any regularity.

Turnover Northwestern with 47.9 seconds left in the game. FAU ball.

Now FAU calls time out with 35.4 seconds left and the shot clock is at..... 7?

What the heck? 14.5 seconds go off the game clock, but somehow the shot clock - which should have started at 30 since FAU just got possession - has run 23 seconds off?

Yeah I bet FAU wishes they’d taken the last possession of the game semi-seriously now

This is the shot clock issue I was talking about.

Here's when the ref blew the whistle and the clock stopped on the NW backcourt violation. 47.9 on the game clock and the shot clock should be reset to 30 for FAU since it’s a change of possession at this point.

And here's when the ref blew the whistle for the timeout by FAU. 35.4 on the game clock but for some reaskn
