Mookie collided with the catcher sliding into home in the first inning. He got up limping but still played two more innings before being lifted for Swihart.

It was a combination of a bad throw taking the catcher across the plate and a risky/ bad send with no outs in the first.

Hoping for a minor knee contusion, but it looked like it also got twisted up with the contact.

Please let the rains come tomorrow and give him a couple of days of rest.

I know he’s a gamer but they should have pulled him in the first.
It's tough to pull a guy in first if he says he's okay, just tweaked it sliding or whatever.

Or just give him tomorrow off with either all three of JD, Hanley, and MM, or let Swihart actually play two days in a row.

I'm always surprised (and dismayed) when they don't pull someone right away and ice the injury to minimize the swelling. Nip the thing in the bud, if possible. The benefit of him playing two more innings is far outweighed by the potential risks.

Makes sense but it doesn't go that way very often. This is the team that let Fred Lynn with an obviously broken foot stay in the game and make a painfully hobbled journey around the bases.

Mookie looked like he was favoring his right leg after that play. He was moving around constantly in the field, as if he was trying to keep something from tightening up. Was kind of relieved when Cora pulled him from the game.

I realize the announced injury was to his left foot, but Mookie’s legs got pretty banged up all over on that play. Might take him a few days to recover, even if nothing is seriously wrong.

Of course. But hyper-competitive athletes generally will undersell their ailments to stay on the field. Training staff can do exams and ask questions, but certainly easy for athletes to wince and grimace and say 'i'm good put me back out there.'

I was afraid it was his knee and a ligament strain. A foot bruise sounds like it could be resolved soon since the impact did not seem as bad as a 95 mph pitch or batted ball. Hanley to my surprise seems fine after his wrist bruise.

So with Hanley back and Betts too in a few days, XB somehow a week away , and Pomeranz coming back, and hopefully Nunez knee is Ok, and with Prices cold hand warmed up, we are in good shape heading out west to battle the mighty Angels and the Japanese Babe Ruth of the 1918 variety
