What we saw last night was emblematic of what we've seen every year since 2004.

With the changes they made this year to be a special team... they've shown me nothing that indicates they are special, that they can play that type of baseball... where every out matters... They have come up very very small.

Get beat where they can't hold a lead. Get beat where they come back from behind.

Pedroia... that ten pitch at bat is symbolic about what is different between the Yankees and the Red Sox.

I'm not making a statement about the next couple months. I'm making a statement about the post season. And it shows how much work the Yankees have to do. The Yankees don't... the Red Sox do.

They are 33 and 16. That's plenty. It's the 1 and 10 that scares you.

Pedroia's 10-pitch AB is symbolic of the differences between the Yankees and the Red Sox

It is pretty interesting that they're so bad against those two big teams, and so good against the rest, but I just don't buy not giving them credit for beating Tampa Bay. They're still a really good team.

I didn't feel that was a classic Mike rant. Not going to YouTube that.
I'll be on standby for the Girardi interview at 5:05, though.

The 718
being at the New Terlet for the Subway Series is taking a lot of the piss out of this. If he were in the studio and the Yanks were just going to Cleveland or Detroit tonight, there would be a lot less focus on the upcoming weekend, and more on the catastrophe sweep.

It was a danger to throw Wang into the Boston series. He was not ready. Miscalculation by Girardi.

I have no problem with what Girardi did last night, because he had nothing to cover the 8th inning.

The 718
Caller: stupid to pitch Wang instead of Hughes.

Can't argue with that.

Mike: Joe had a hand in the Yanks losing big this series. Throwing Girardi under the bus. 5:00 hour should be fun.

[Girardi] knows he has to make the playoffs. Are you going to keep a manager who can't make the playoffs two years in a row? It's impossible.

This is a team that's failed miserably in the playoffs in recent years. They've failed miserably. They can't play up to the talent level.

I don't think Delcarmen's any good, so getting runs off Delcarmen doesn't impress me.

Outrage over curtain calls for Ortiz and "that idiot Penny" throwing at A-Rod from a caller...

[Swisher] How was that not an error the other night? How was that not possibly an error?

20-30 years ago, you'd be off the field if you dropped those balls. They wouldn't let you back on.

Thank you. Someone mentions that Swisher's catch the other night wasn't all that great given his awful jump on the ball.

And yet, Kay was practically orgasming.

Not a team that you can say has got "it". This team can't find "it".

He's getting a little worked up now. God, these callers are pathetic.

This makes sense. Mike always plays the depressed and philosophical angle at the end of a series, especially after his talking points proved accurate. Now, he can rage at the stupidity of the callers and individual moments

Also I don't think Mike is toning it down today because anyone from the Yankees implored him to do so....if Mike were to suddenly start answering to the Yankees that would pretty much ruin his entire show. He saved his fire and brimstone for yesterday's show and made some predictions almost all of which ended up coming true. It's too early in the season to really lose your mind about anything and he gave it a pretty good performance yesterday.
