He just made a comment to the effect that he always told his listeners that there was so much more to Spygate. Fatso will use this as his basis for the idea that he's always been right about the cheating Pats. Never mind his lack of any handle on basic facts or his palpable dislike for Belichick and Kraft coloring his statements about them and the team. Must be nice to live in a world where you are always right even when you are most often wrong.

Friday will be Mike's last day on FOX. Terrible deal for all involved. No new partners for 2 months while he negotiates. I'm guessing MSG would be a good fit.

Well he's burned nearly every other bridge. He said that the CBS guys hate him. YES is gone, FOX is gone. He and Dolan are buddy-buddy so there you go.

This is sadly humorous:  Mike is explaining in detail what it was like to be in NYC on 9/11......TO A NEW YORK CITY AUDIENCE
Mainly sad. After describing his heroic effort to get to the studio I had to turn it off

Fatso was just defending his hero, Peyton Manning, yet again. He said Peyton wouldn't trade his career for anyone else's. He then went on to talk about how people place too much emphasis on championships. He actually, with a straight face, said he can't believe that people see making the Super Bowl and losing as a negative. It would be great to hear a Pats fan call in to ask him if these standards apply to Brady and Belichick. I'm sure he would just deny that he ever said losing Super Bowls was a mark against them.

Leaving in a bit to the studio :)

It's ridiculous, since he's said many times that it's better to lose the conference championship than the Super Bowl. Which is idiotic, but that was his position for years.
I remember some of those.  Losing a SB was a - strike on a player's record/legacy, as opposed to NOT making it to the SB which he considered a wash.

And when he and Dog used to play "HOFer, or not" no matter what the sport, didnt he place weight on the number of rings a player had?

Yup.

Wish I had a dollar for every rant he made about how losing the SB is the worst feeling in the world and that second place in the NFL is a forgotten no man's land. Also wish I had a dollar for every time he marked a SB loss as huge black mark on your legacy or debated with Russo about how 'only one ring' or 'no rings' was used against a player. But now, suddenly, it's no big deal for Peyton, loser of countless playoff games when he was a double-digit favorite and a losing SB record. Mike is the worst kind of apologist, always moving goal posts and using his own arguments against him. Reminds me of RG.

Final note, if you look at Peyton's stats, his career regular season passer rating is 97.5 but his career playoff rating is 88.5. The numbers say that the bigger the game, the worse he plays but Mike never said anything about how being clutch matters to the legacy of NFL QB's. Oh wait...

Made even funnier by him going on earlier about Flacco being underrated and how he plays well in the playoffs. He also used the playoffs to prop up Eli. The contradictions in all his arguments are something.

Normally I'd say it's a bit unfair to call out a guy for holding opposing viewpoints at different times over a very very long career but I would never extend that courtesy to Francesa, who is completely disingenuous about it. Would never admit he's a homer for somebody or has some kind of bias. Would never admit he was wrong, as opposed to someone like Felger who I think enjoys admitting he was wrong and taking his medicine from gloating callers because he knows it makes good radio.

He lacks all sense of self-awareness while purporting to be the smartest, most well-informed guy in the room. If anybody called him on moving the goalposts he would shout them down or say it doesn't matter for some unrelated reason. He's an ass.

All that said...looking forward to what he has to say about the work of his guys in the clutch last night.

My guess is Mike goes soft on Coughlin and Eli while reminding us all that he isn't a Giants fan. I also don't expect him to spend much time on Lynch getting stuffed to end the Seattle game yesterday. He couldn't bring himself to give the Pats any credit after the Super Bowl. It was all about how there was zero chance that Lynch wouldn't have gotten a yard. Mike sticks to his narratives and never admits he's wrong. It's only gotten worse post-Dog and he's become more insufferable as a result.

Here's what he'll say about the Lynch thing. The Pats defensive line isn't as good as the Rams. Lynch just had a big run against the Patriots and nearly got into the end zone.

Yes he will go soft on Eli and Tom. But inside he knows that last night was a clusterfuck. So he is going to be in a foul mood and jump ugly on the callers who don't go soft on them.

Been listening to Mike for 15 years past tense because I cannot listen anymore.

He simply is not honest nor fair anymore, and that makes him a fraud.

Too bad Mike and the Mad Dog was excellent a great listen.

Yes - despite their obvious flaws, in their prime, Mike & The Mad Dog back in the day was without doubt, the most entertaining sports talk show of all-time. No contest.

Absolutely. They were stellar together. Mike on his own is impossible to listen to.

Eli is a stand up guy but also a moron. Telling the back not to score to give them a 10 point lead with under 2 minutes to go???

And the bench knew about this and thought it was OK??

WTF!!!

I agree. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How? You tell a guy NOT to score if your lead is going to be less than 7, so as not to give the ball back to the team who can score to win. It's not difficult. 84 million for that analysis.

I hadn't heard of this until just now and it's so dumb I can't believe it. Even for Eli with his big dummy helmet. He was snapping the ball leaving 10 or 15 seconds on the play clock during that drive, and throws it away in an uncatchable pass on third down, but he told his RB not to score?????? So that they can run the clock out, I guess?

What were the betting lines?

I expect Jennings to get backlash over this.  Even if Eli did tell him this, how stupid is Jennings and everyone else in that huddle that none of them went, "Eli, if we go up ten points here, Dallas could have five timeouts left and the game would still be over."

Today I'll bother to listen. I imagine he'll blast Rex -- every minute on him is one less for Coughlin/Eli.

What were his picks for Sunday?

16 and 26 in their last 42. In the NFL, that's bad. Giants aren't Giants anymore. Have not been the Gianta for a while.

Well "officially" (vs conversationally) he said he was 3-0 on his picks. So again, covering all bases.

Did he ever go after Rexy today?

I heard a little but he wasn't really fired up about it.

Mostly "same old Rex--opens his mouth then has to eat his words---must be about the 20th time he has had to say he's been out coached--what else do you expect from him".  That kind of thing

Worked mightily trying to find a soft landing for his buddy Tom Coughlin, like a parachutist in a 50 knot gale. He clearly wishes Tom would have stepped down. And it's a delicate balancing act cause he's bubble wrapping Eli too -- but that just throws the blame back on to Tom -- e.g., the defense should feel free to stop somebody.

Fat Fuck already KNOWS that the new JETS coaching staff is excellent.

"They now have a Coach!!"

Wait until it all goes terribly wrong (which it may or may not)

His arrogance knows no bounds
