His poo pooing of the Victorino attempt at throwing Freese was The Pope at his most pompous and arrogant.

"I didn't see it"

"put that up"

"let me see it"

then before he even sees it as soon as he heard about what that jackoff said on MLB network, he was right in saying that it was pouring salt on the wound - but if it was a ONE run game it would be OK!

what about a two run game, asshat?!?!

The reporters name is Michael O'Keefe

and he wrote this article today

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i-team/mike-francesa-a-rod-rant-clouded-facts-case-article-1.1496081

"Mike Francesa doesn’t let the facts get in the way of a good — but utterly pointless — rant.
The WFAN personality spent nearly 12 minutes ripping Major League Baseball Thursday because he believes MLB officials leaked information to the Daily News about paying $125,000 for records linking Alex Rodriguez to a shady character in a parking lot.

Francesa, unfortunately, got it all wrong."

Not to take sides, but if you go to the link, read the O'Keefe piece, right after the article, are some of the bogus Franesa tweets, which make Francesa look buffoonish, and then are followed by NY Daily News I-team tweets seeming to respond to Francesa. IMO Its shoddy journalism.

Yeah, both sides have been trolling each other for years.  They both came off like assholes there, but it was nice to hear someone pound him for not STFU and letting others speak.

I agree to the extent, that Francesa did not have a kill switch to mute a dissenting voice. But O'Keefe was hardly Woodward or Bernstein. IMO to the degree we can assign moral high-ground in this debate, Franesa still got dry feet.

Why shouldn't he talk NBA? It's opening night, he's a NYcentric blowhard and neither of the NFL played last night.

He deserves all the crap he gets, but his core audience is the NY metro area.

He briefly mentioned last night's game in the open and the "coronation in Boston", but to be fair its an off-day, and he probably will touch on it later today and tomorrow.  And does he really want to talk about Ortiz?

It took 3 hours, but in responding to a caller's comment about Frank Isola making comments about Papi and PEDs, Francesa first asked about the "proof" but then went on to say,

(paraphrase) Ortiz will win the MVP the Sox will win the World Series, Papi will hold up the trophy, have a parade, have the best week in his life, AND THEN THE SCRUTINY WILL COME., and people will be digging to find the truth.

He the said that Ortiz has a drug past and that how does that square with Selig cleaning up the game but the most celebrated guy in the game is ripping it up in the World Series.

Francesa:  Is the game clean?. Or can Ortiz escape scrutiny?

And he screams "IS HE CLEAN?" at a caller defending Ortiz.

The answer is yes in the absence of a positive drug test, he is clean.

He's unbelievable. When a caller asks him "what do you want MLB to do, they test, do you think they know something?"

Francesa: What are they doing to insure there is nothing going on?

In Mike's world, Ortiz is guilty because they haven't found the damning evidence yet. .

He's an entertainer and being entertaining here.

Time and again he credits Arod's '07 with being one of the great performances in Yankee history and wouldn't have won the WS without him in '09.

He never provides a disclaimer.

Funny how none of this nonsense was being spewed when Ortiz was 2/24 or whatever it was he hit in the ALCS.

Whatever. It's just a bunch of pathetic and bitter MFY fans venting their spleens.

This guy is turning into Eddie Andelman south - spends all his time focused on personal grudges and baseless nonsense. Sad but unsurprising.

There is really something wrong with me. The Red Sox are going for their third World Series in 10 years and I'm listening him and letting him piss me off on all this steroid talk.

I'm listening as well and laughing my ass off. Like I said above, it's nothing more than spleen venting by bitter and entitled MFY fans. Nothing more.

So I'm getting a kick out of the stupidity.

Francesa getting a lot of Ortiz calls today, and while Francesa's anti-Ortiz tone today is slightly more muted and a little more balanced (admits no evidence since '03) he is adamant that as Ortiz has a "history" (the '03 list) and that questioning Ortiz is fair game. His stance today is more on that baseball will have a problem if something comes out on Ortiz. But he gets very irate when people suggest that Jeter who has had some good years late in his career off a down year (like Ortiz) is beyond suspicion.

Wow, that's amazing.  The argument he's making is that the era taints your perception of these guys, and when they do what Ortiz has done, you have to be more suspicious, blah blah blah.

The Yankee fan turning into a 9 year old kid when they talk about Derek Jeter is just too fucking much though.  Sorry, you want to tread that path, that's what comes with it Big Guy.

Someone else brought up "did Pettitte get this scrutiny when he was pitching good games in his 40's?" and Francesa answers, no but he wasn't about win the MVP of the World Series" Interesting answer about a guy who won more post-season games than anyone in history.

However, to his credit he did mention to a MFY caller that MFY fans did cheer for Giambi when he hit 2 hrs off Pedro, knowing he was juiced up.  And they (MFY fans) are just as hypocritical as Sox fans cheering for Ortiz.

As an aside, I heard an ad for a special dinner hosted by Francesa:  "A Dinner with Andy Pettitte"

No conflict of interests there.

Mike did shut up that one Yankee caller.  I was amazed.
(Paraphrase)

Caller: "Mike, these Red Sox fans are the most delusional fans..."
Mike: "What about you?  Who are you a fan of?
Caller: "The Yankees"
Mike: "Well I'm sure you cheered for Giambi when he hit 2 HRs off the Sox in Game 7 of the ALCS in 2003. Didn't you?"
Caller: "Yeah but Mike, I kinda always thought he was on something.  But these fans..."
Mike: "So what?  You cheered for Giambi and never said anything about him possibly being dirty.  You cheered for A-Rod.  You cheered for Andy.  Yankee fans are no different"

Edit - Whoops, didn't see Bankshot's update.

"To his credit"?  That's some serious false equivalency bullshit right there.

Giambi was (*clearly*) juicing at the time he hit those homeruns.  He admitted in a grand jury testimony that he was on steroids during the 2003 season.    Yankees fans continued to cheer for him after word of this got out, and after his infamous 2005 Apology for Nothing in Particular.  If not for Bonds and McGwire, Giambi would have been the face of steroids in baseball.

Ortiz was on a list of unconfirmed (!) PED users in 2003, ten years ago.  He has denied using since, and has never been caught through the testing program.

I am not saying that David Ortiz is 100% clean, or has always been clean.  But claiming that rooting for David Ortiz in 2013 is the same as rooting for Jason Giambi from 2003-2007 is just disingenuous and moronic.

It was to his credit in that Francesa believes Ortiz was/is a PED user, and he called out the MFY fan for hypocrisy.
However, I think Francesa's base opinion is wrong. As I posted yesterday as Ortiz has not tested positive for anything in 10 years, he is clean.

I have a reasonably good handle on the Ortiz/Arod outing by the NY Times.  MLB said 8 of the 104 list players should not have been on that list and that 13 guys tested positive for something other than steroids. Francesa ignores this when casting doubt on Ortiz and his "history".

I agree with you that there is an big element of giving the benefit of the doubt that Francesa seems unwilling to give to Ortiz.

I wish David would share with his teammates.

Or have used during the ALCS.
