I wasn’t sure how to read it either because I remembered in Bettman’s PC he said there would be OT. It absolutely could be ties in the standings.Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but I think the tie breaker comes into play with regards to the final round robin standings, not the individual games?
I guess this would make more sense. Ties being wins for the higher seeded team might be a bit too gimmicky.Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but I think the tie breaker comes into play with regards to the final round robin standings, not the individual games?
I think the assumption is they won't have a regular 2021 season. Thought they were talking about starting in December, hopefully get this season completed before "second wave" then start 2021 after second wave subsides. That could wreak havoc on the salary cap for the next few seasons though I guess the SEA franchise coming in 2021-22 could help?Eh, they can always hold a shorter regular season in 2020-21. Which in and of itself wouldn't be a terrible thing anyway.
We don’t care .. 13 Stanley Cups fart in your general directionI got a text from my Leaf fan friend. This week is the first time the Toronto Maple Leafs, in their 102 year history, have been in contention during the month of June.
Don't fart at me. Fart at my Leaf fan friend who is in his 50s and has exactly zero Cup Final memories. And Harold Ballard. We don’t care .. 13 Stanley Cups fart in your general direction
This may point towards a January start date.I don’t think either the NBA or NHL are in a hurry to return this fall because they’re hoping that by waiting for Christmas or January, they can play a normal season with fans just pushed back 2-3 months.
Ideally, there’s a vaccine in some phase of production by September. But if not, there will at least be more certainty as we progress into September/Oct.
https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-06-03-20-intl/h_d9360b4e277953a4490fa5ee17285938The US should have 100 million doses of one candidate Covid-19 vaccine by the end of the year, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, said Tuesday.
“Then, by the beginning of 2021, we hope to have a couple hundred million doses,” Fauci said during a live question and answer session with the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Leafs were pretty consistant about winning those two round tournaments, eh?We don’t care .. 13 Stanley Cups fart in your general direction
Vegas has I think 4 or 5 skating rinks that they can use, so I think they should be able to have enough practice time, assuming games are staggered a bitBelieve they are sticking to 2 sites. They have another week or two to announce them. Most think Vegas will be one, but I’m still curious about how they’d figure out practice ice for 12 teams.
Phase 2 starts on Monday which means players can return to their team city and work out and skate in small groups at the team facilities. Warrior will be open. Cassidy said he’s hearing a speculative date of 7/10 as training camps opening.
hell of a lot more than the Bs managed .Leafs were pretty consistant about winning those two round tournaments, eh?

Vegas is a hub. Toronto in the lead for the other hub if the league can work it out with the Canadian government.

They’ve said they would try to not have a team play in their own city. Key word is try. It’s more of a perception thing. Vegas and Toronto would have to live in the bubble. It’s not like they’d be able to stay in their own homes during this. Plus the games will be played in an empty rink without fans. As a Bruins, I’d prefer to avoid going to Toronto but it is not like they’d be playing in a sold-out Scotiabank Arena. (The Toronto home crowd is also mostly suits anyway). So Eastern Teams in Vegas and Western Teams in Toronto so the home clubs don't derive home ice advantage, right?
Of course Florida being a shit show fucks everything up.
Of course he did. He lives in Arizona. This is just infuriating.
The Phillies, Blue Jays, and Lightning have all shut down their facilities due to positive tests. This is me being a cynic, but I think a second wave totally shuts down sports and causes full quarantines again within the next 2 months. I think there are too many people that see $$$ (not in just sports) and will cut corners to get back, and enough of those will lead to a systemic re-failure.
