I'm mostly a Red Sox guy, don't watch a whole lot of other team's games, but Kershaw is fun to watch.
edit: unless it's a Red Sox game.

There was a lull in all time great pitchers after Unit/Maddux/Pedro but he is absolutely in that category and its always worth watching him.I'm mostly a Red Sox guy, don't watch a whole lot of other team's games, but Kershaw is fun to watch.
He isn't in the strike zone much at all. Everything is on the edges.Kershaw's numbers thus far in 2016: 100.2 IP, 122k, 6 BB, .646 WHIP, 1.52 ERA, 1.58 FIP, 250 ERA+ 59 HA, 5 HRs. The most remarkable thing about this guy is that he is in the strike zone all the time and batters still have trouble touching him.
We are kind of saying the same thing but yes, his command is such that he is hitting his spots very efficiently. He isn't in the strike zone much at all. Everything is on the edges.
It's not getting any prettier. Now 5-0 Detroit with no outs in the 2ndFirst three batters for the Tigers against Shields--home run, single, double. Damn, I wish Hawk was announcing this game.
What makes you think that (after having given up 10 runs in his first start)? And people wondered why half the members of this site wouldn't have taken a chance on him...I think the white sox may want a mulligan
I was terrified we were going to trade something useful for him. What makes you think that (after having given up 10 runs in his first start)? And people wondered why half the members of this site wouldn't have taken a chance on him...
The majority of talk was moving Sandoval for him wasn't it? Useful isn't the first adjective that springs to mind.I was terrified we were going to trade something useful for him.
Pretty sure there were those who advocated getting him if the price was low enough in prospect cost alsoThe majority of talk was moving Sandoval for him wasn't it? Useful isn't the first adjective that springs to mind.
One person anyway. The only question that needs to be asked is how to improve on a fifth starter's slot that is basically just pissing away games when it's their turn. While also stressing out an already depleted bullpen.
James Shields was one answer.
More useful spending the season on the DL and perhaps never playing baseball again than taking up a spot on the 25 man and actively losing games though, right? The majority of talk was moving Sandoval for him wasn't it? Useful isn't the first adjective that springs to mind.
For some reason I did not picture him as a white dude.Jameson Taillon dominant against the Mets in his second MLB start. 8ip 0er 1bb and 2h. 91 pitches, 61 for strikes.
It will only cost a team $508K to sign him pro rated with the Rockies still on the hook for the rest of this season and the $22Mill next year. A good value but probably "untouchable" from a marketing stand point. Ala Ray Rice. I suppose he deserves a shot but not on my team. Fuck him, he's getting paid. I got no sympathy. This incident happened in my "back yard".Jose Reyes DFA'd by the Rockies.
Why does he deserve a shot? He "deserves" nothing. If someone gives him a shot, well, good for him I guess, but he doesn't "deserve" one just because he was or is a good player. It will only cost a team $508K to sign him pro rated with the Rockies still on the hook for the rest of this season and the $22Mill next year. Yeah, for these franchises too often moral outrage seems directly related to talent level: the Yankees seem perfectly content to have Chapman as their closer, and the Cowboys welcomed all-world bad guy Greg Hardy to their defense last fall. He's not a good player any more. That, unfortunately, is going to be most of the reason why teams will pass on picking him up, not because of his domestic violence incidents.
19 runs in 8 innings for the White SoxJames shields is a dumpster fire.
Considering they almost moved there in 1993The Giants look really weird playing in Tampa.

Now that smoke has cleared... updated Shields stats for last 4 starts: 11.1 IP, 32 H, 32 R (31 ER), 6 K/13 BB, .485 opp. average, 24.62 ERA.
