Rangeres trade Derick Brassard and a 7th for Mika Zibanejad and a 2nd.
Both picks 2018... not sure what Ottawa's doing there.

The Rangers get a player 5 years younger for half the cost that is on the way up and they get a 2nd round pick as well. Hard not to like this deal for the blue shirts.Rangeres trade Derick Brassard and a 7th for Mika Zibanejad and a 2nd.

It's a shame because Gretzky seemed to be righting the ship after several years of barren drafts. The prospect pipeline has been one of the few positives over the past couple of years.McKenzie tweeting that Keith Gretzky is going to be named Assistant GM of the Oilers.
Not sure who the B's have as an amateur scouting team, but hopefully someone competent to replace Gretzky.
Can they take John Ferguson Jr instead?

You follow this stuff a lot better than I do, but he seems like he's on a solid trajectory towards being a good NHL head coach. Why wouldn't he be a good candidate for Montreal or elsewhere? The Subban debacle gives me great hope that they are indeed stupid enough to bring him aboard.
That's not really a circle. That's more out-and-back.That would really bring his career full circle, wouldn't it?
MTL -> Temper Tantrum -> COL, COL -> Temper Tantrum -> MTL
His trajectory is down. His 3 seasons resulted in 112 points, 90 points and then 82 points this past season. As SJH mentioned, after that first season, people pointed at their 47% CF and noted that regression was coming if they didn't change their system. He thumbed his nose at this, acted like the smartest guy in the room...and they regressed. Hard. They got worse in year 2, 42.3%. This past season, 44.4%. He refuses to admit his system sucks and he also hates analytics. Even ideas as basic as getting out shot every game will lead to more losses than wins. He's always been stubborn SOB, and I can't see him changing his ways. He'll be an utter disaster in Montreal.
