Because finding a franchise QB may be the hardest thing to find in sports. It may work out, like it did with Dallas (but there was no way they were getting THAT haul). Take the latest example...Rams and Titans for Goff. Of the haul that the Titans received, only Derrick Henry remains (that IS a huge piece, I'll grant you that). But the Rams made and almost won a SB, while staying competitive (and borderline top 8 franchise) for 5 years after the trade.
Also, regarding the J-E-S-Ts, any excuse to post this video...

I get your point about finding a franchise QB may be the hardest thing to find in sports, but it's sort of pointless if there are little to no offensive line or offensive weapons for him. You're basically setting him up to fail.
Imagine what a culture shock it is for a kid like Lawrence to come from a program like Clemson where they were loaded his entire time there and he lands in Jacksonville, or to some extent Jones with the Patriots.
With Jones, I'm thinking more along the lines of did he see this sort of defensive pressure in college like he's seen in the first three games here?
What did he have, something like 17 "hurries" vs the Saints?
Any thoughts on Darnold and what his issues were with the Jets that caused them to give up on him and start over?
Also, what is your opinion as to how he's doing so far in Carolina?
