I really like David Perron - he's like a more skilled version of Chris Kunitz from when they first acquired him, and the thought of him playing with Sid and Patric Hornqvist is intriguing but in this draft a first round pick is a hefty price.
How that really sucks. Whoever ran that site provided valuable information to sports fans everywhere. Godspeed fine sir. I raise a glass to you this evening.Greg29fan said:Capgeek.com has permanently ceased operations due to the health of the site operator.
Think they'd send Phil back? Think anyone would be interested?TheShynessClinic said:There are also rumors that Kessel and Phaneuf are on their way out from Toronto. Apparently they're not "Shannahan" guys.

Carlyle sucked, but the Leafs seem to be paralyzed by Mike Babcock's potential availability. They want to be in position to land Babcock if he does in fact leave Detroit after the year. With that looming, their options were to either bring Carlyle back or try and find a lame duck coach to come in for 1-year. I can't imagine that would appeal to a lot of coaching candidates. The got through half a year with Carlyle and can still salvage something while leaving the Babcock door open.PedroSpecialK said:To be honest, he should have been canned when Shanahan was brought in. They ended up outshot by 1,254 shots during Carlyle's reign - that they were in the playoff hunt at all during Carlyle's reign is a testament to how good Reimer (and more recently Bernier) were despite a porous defense and a bad forecheck.
Well Ron Wilson seems to think it's a players problem, so who knows.Toe Nash said:Good one.
I don't really think they're available; the Toronto media is worse than our with regard to blatantly making up rumors and they hate those guys.
“Some of the core players have failed under two or three different coaches, so it’s got to be the player’s fault,” he said.
But are they uncoachable?
“I wouldn’t really say that clearly, but you’d have to surmise that some of them might be uncoachable.”
“I think you can win with Phil Kessel,” Wilson said. “He shows obvious signs of brillance throughout the year. But Phil’s problem, and I think it’s pretty much the way Phil’s been his whole career, he’s two weeks on and two weeks off. You just hope that you can get him playing his best hockey for as long as possible. You can’t rely on Phil. It’s just the way it is. He comes and goes, and he gets emotional. He lets that affect his game and his relationship with other players.
But that’s just the nature of the beast. That’s what you have to coach. You have to know that Phil’s going to give you everything he’s got for two or three weeks and then for the next two or three weeks, everything seems to go wrong for Phil. That’s just the way it is.”
Since the start of the 2009-10 season, when Kessel was traded to the Maple Leafs from theBoston Bruins for a couple of draft picks, he has scored more goals than all but three players in the NHL (Alex Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos and Corey Perry). He has done this by averaging at least one goal once every 2.3 games that he has played (he has at least one goal in 143 of the 404 games he has played as a Maple Leaf). That is the sixth best mark in the league over that stretch, trailing only Ovechkin, Stamkos, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkinand Perry.

Sources said Young is essentially being forced to sell the team by the Ducks. The relocation is part of a larger move designed to bring AHL affiliates closer to their NHL parent clubs. Young said the AHL is to take up creation of a Pacific Division at its league meetings in Utica, N.Y., on Jan. 25.
Norfolk is one of five cities expected to lose AHL teams to the move west, joining Manchester, N.H.; Worcester, Mass.; Adirondack, N.Y.; and Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City officials confirmed Wednesday that their franchise will cease operations after this season, and he Bakersfield Californian newspaper reported that the Oklahoma City team will relocate there.

"The captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby, was punished by the National Hockey League on Monday because he missed the All-Star game after facing the Chicago Blackhawks in the last meeting of his, the day before the break.
The star player is not eligible to duel against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night, as it has not seemed bothered by injury against the Blackhawks."
