Miguel Olivo bit part of Alex Guerrero's ear off today.

Odd news out of Salt Lake City, where two members of the Albuquerque Isotopes — a Class AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers — were involved in an altercation in the dugout during the club’s loss to the Salt Lake Bees on Tuesday.

According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, prospect Alex Guerrero needed plastic surgery because veteran catcher Miguel Olivo bit him on the ear. Yeah.

A couple times the runners advanced with the ball in C Miguel Olivo’s hand. I got the feeling he was upset that no one was talking to let him know there was a runner, and when they DID scream “runner!”, no one was at the bag to cover a play. …. That is certainly a cluster of plays that got under the skin of Olivo….

After the Isotopes half of the inning started, Guerrero was walking the length of the dugout towards the clubhouse/bat-rack and SOMEONE sucker punched him as he was walking passed. From the photos it seems that Miguel Olivo is very much involved. He seems to be grabbing AG around the neck in this photo.

Almost too strange to be true - in a pre-season interview Olivo said if he wasn't a baseball player he'd be a boxer - “Like Mike Tyson, but without the ear biting.” I shit you not.

Utah is apparently the national epicenter for teammate on teammate baseball violence. Earlier this year in a high school game, a pitcher and catcher mound meeting turned into a game-ending fistfight.

In other Salt Lake Bees news, "Josh Hamilton" and "Rehab" are words that bring fear to his team's fans when used in the same sentence...but it's happening this weekend, fortunately at Smith's Ballpark, not a gated celebrity clinic.

Really the thread title isn't Hungry Hungry Miguel?

Can we pause for a second and admire the Albuquerque Isotopes???

A real-life minor-league baseball team, based in Albuquerque, decided to name their team the Albuquerque Isotopes after this episode.

http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Springfield_Isotopes

The low quality of the team combined with its financial difficulties has prompted management to consider moving the team. After the team was sold to the Duff corporation (from the Mafia, and according to Moe the last of the family-owned teams), Homer once learned that there were plans to move the team to Albuquerque, and staged a hunger strike to prevent it. Springfield become aware of their plans to move the team due to Homer's efforts and their premature roll-out of food packaging with "Albuquerque Isotopes" written on them. Albuquerque decides to change the decision to move the team.

Josh Hamilton's rehab...

And a great double dip at Smith's Ballpark today, Canadian Cal Quantrill started for Stanford against Utah, going 8 scoreless with 4 hits. Yes, that's Paul Quantrill's son...followed by more Hamilton rehab tonight.
