As our spoiled fan base(admit it) prepare for another possible title, what do you think are the greatest comebacks in Boston sports playoff history in one game, not an entire series?
1. Super Bowl 51 Feb. 5th 2017. Has to be. Down 28-3 early in the third quarter, 28-9 at the beginning of the 4th. Just an unbelievable shock.
2. Bruins-Maple Leafs. May 13th 2013,Game 7 opening round. Down 4-1 in the 3rd, and were looking dead as a door nail. Won 5-4 in OT, Thank You again Patrice Bergeron. Hockey is much harder late in a game to come back. Basketball has the shot clock and comebacks happen so much. Baseball has no clock.
3. Celtics-Nets, May 25th 2002 Game 3 Eastern Finals. Down 24 midway through the 3rd quarter. Down 21 at the start of the 4th. Amazing defense and comeback by Celts. The reason I put this one above the Lakers-Celtics 2008 game 4 comeback is in that game they were down by 22 or 24 early but had 3 quarters to come back. The 2002 team didn't have that kind of time.
4. Red Sox-Rays Game 5 2008 ALCS. Down 7 zip entering the bottom of the 7th. Cut it to 7-4. Entering the bottom of the 8th. Tie it in the 8th, then win it in the bottom of the 9th. Boy was J.D. Drew clutch for us.
4 tie Celtics-Lakers Game 4 2008 NBA Finals. Celts down 21at the end of the 1st quarter and 18 at the half. They cut the lead to 2 at the start of the 4th and you could see the fear in the Lakers eyes. Won 97-91, James Posey and Eddie House helped us win it with huge baskets coming off the bench. I don't put this one as high as Celtic-Nets 02 because of how close it was at the end of 3 quarters.
