Samsung has completely fallen out of favor for me in every aspect. I absolutely can't stand their whole app ecosystem. Just a crappier version of everything else that's out there for free (mainly referring to phones and their smart watch). LG makes the best TVs right now from like any angle.
HDR is still a pain in the ass, though. I love it. It looks absolutely amazing with almost everything that works right, but Windows 10 is super annoyingly inconsistent with it. It's so frustrating trying to fix anything when everything is automatic.
Yes, the LG doesn't make it perfect, sometimes I have to turn the TV on and off to catch the HDR.(at least you know when it's not working, as it's a blank screen) But at least it works, right out of the gate, on plug in. No settings needed to be changed. I can't even describe how many things I tried with the Samsung, on multiple TVs. Hours of rage.
There are legions of complaints on the internet about HDR, particularly with Samsung. It is the opposite of great, it fucking sucks. Yes, it's amazing when it works, but it's too glitchy and I assume there are millions who have a washed out picture and just go with it because there isn't any other option.
But Netflix and Samsung SHOULD allow people to turn off HDR if they want. Neither does and that puts some people(me) in a bind. The Xbox does allow it, at least.
I'm done with Samsung, (although I'll be using them for years because I have over 15 Samsung TVs currently) Going forward, I am living the LG life now. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks ridiculous on the CX.
