Interesting and probably not a good sign for The Jaw. They don't have a history together, correct?

I hope that is correct and that it is indeed a bad sign for him.

But I would be surprised if they would bring in anyone over his objection and better said, without his total buy in. I have been surprised before, however.

I'm glad they are bringing in someone who was not in the organization last year. Having a relatively new voice strikes me as a positive step. Maybe, if nothing else, DiSarcina can help JF with the Xs and Os more than Lovullo was able to.

Not sure why it is at all reflective of Farrell. Unless we hear otherwise, shouldn't the assumption be that he was involved with and approved of the hiring?

Disarcina was the manager at Lowell from 2007-2009 and was a roving infield instructor in 2010. Then he was the replacement for Arnie Beyeler at Pawtucket when Farrell brought Arnie up to the big league staff. Safe to say that Farrell and Disarcina have worked with each other before, even if it wasn't in a direct daily way.

Yea, my bad. I quickly glanced at his playing career and assumed he had no connection the Red Sox. Carry on.

I think it's an excellent move. Bring back someone with a connection to the organization and has a history managing younger players.

Looking at his post-playing roles, particularly in this organization - this seems like the biggest no brainer there was. As the Pawtucket manager in 2013, he managed 7 guys who will be on the opening day roster. He must be very well liked.

This article points out the excellent communication Farrell already has with him.
This one talks recently about his watching X and Bradley succeed.
And the great quote from this one, from his time in Lowell:
Pawtucket second baseman Ryan Dent remembered struggling as a Spinner in Lowell and DiSarcina calling him into the dugout at LeLacheur Park for a talk.

"He said, 'Remember when you were in Little League and your mom dropped you off at the park, and the game was about to start in 10 minutes? I want you to play like that guy,' " recalled Dent.
