They ended your season last year. They took Bergeron’s last chance at a cup. Maul them. Don’t let them off the mat. Pundits talking about how the Bruins are just still fresh off the battle with Toronto, and the Panthers will turn it around. That’s not what I saw in Game 1. The Bruins know they can fucking beat them. I know it. Some of you know it. And the Panthers know it, deep down, that the death of their season awaits them.

Dear Florida,

Good job, good effort in game 1. You almost had it until like 30 minutes left in the game and then you definitely did not have it. Your goalie is acting like a baby the first time he’s seen a puck, ducking out of the way half the time and trying to lick it the other half of the time. Your defensemen were actively attempting to give the puck to our forwards. And all of your offensive talent mustered one whole goal against Jeremy Swayman, which is admittedly a great effort against him, but also just isn’t going to get the job done.

And then there are your “fans”. You know. The ones who left with 10 minutes left in the third period. Clearly all of us remember Bruins/Leafs in 2013 where Bergeron’s winning goal was scored in front of 8 people because everyone left down 3 goals with 10 minutes left.

Oh wait.

That’s not what real fans do?

No, they fucking stick it out and back their fucking team. But I guess when ice doesn’t even naturally occur in your habitat, you probably need some lessons on the basics. Shit, half of you are probably looking at the rink being like “Damn I could make a great margarita with all that ice” because in Florida you just love watered down shit. Because that’s what ice turns into in Florida. It melts, just like your team.

In conclusion, you are not serious hockey fans, do not have a serious hockey team, and we’ll do our best tonight to allow you to leave even earlier than last game, you soft-ass, fair-weather sacks of spray-tanned Botox.

Love you, mean it.

Rip their heads off.

The fatalist in me worries about this game for various reasons, but here's to Swayman again standing on his head and the Bruins headed home (or, I hope, to a Boston hotel) up 2 games to 0.

This. We need to continue to ride the Swayman train. The Panthers will throw the kitchen sink at us tonight.

Swayman should start - no reason to overthink this. Just because a rotation worked in the regular season doesn't mean you keep it going instead of starting the hottest player in the playoffs.

I was firmly team rotation for round 1 and thought Monty was repeating his mistakes in game 4, 5, even 6. However Swayman is playing so well it's awful tough to justify returning to the rotation.

I'm a big process guy (it's literally my job now), and feel strongly that you shouldn't deviate from process without very good reason. And Swayman's absolutely insanely high quality of play seems like a damn good reason.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I would have started Ullmark in game 6 last round and I would have started him in game 1 the other night, but now you really have to ride Swayman and this streak.

I stand by my previous assertion that the Bruins are totally outmatched, do not have the firepower to compete with Florida, and are going to be swept in this series despite Sway-Man. It’s too bad, as I really like this team, but there is no way they are going up 2-0 on the road against a far superior team.

I know that the Bruins don’t actually need to have many shots on goal to score on Bob. But I’d like them to pepper him early and often and run up the score.

Sure, sure, the post-game 7 adrenaline has worn off (and the Panther’s “rust” too). So now it’s time for a good ol’ fashioned ass-kicking. Score so many times that they won’t even be talking about the fact that Swayman blanked them.

Win please.

Put a body in front of the net and pulverize on rebounds given up by BOB.

After seeing Patrick Brown get penalized for an unnecessary post hit hold at the beginning of game 1, I am not at all disappointed to see him out of the line-up tonight. He did have some better moments and play, but that early power play could have boosted Florida and I'm not sure what Brown was thinking with that.

Sam Bennett being out for game 2 doesn't suck either.

Squish the Fish. And yes, I know that Panthers are not Fish. Squish them anyway.

One mistake, yes, captain obvious.

But did you notice him go 5-2 on faceoffs in a postseason where the Bruins absolutely suck at faceoffs?

Did you see him provide 9 hits, more than anyone on either team and more than hitters Maroon and Frederic combined?

Brown out for Boquist is not as obvious against these thugs as you think.

I saw a stat that said that Brown won over 70% of his face-offs in Providence. I'm not sure whether that's over the season or just over an extended recent stretch of games, though.

That's a penalty after the whistle? I can understand why it's a penalty during the course of play
