Don Silver made it clear, but is it an offer that could be refused?

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22198782/nba-outlines-plan-professional-sports-leagues-pushing-national-legalized-wagering

In what could end up being a seminal moment for sports gambling in America, the NBA on Wednesday formally requested a set of laws that could be the basis for professional sports leagues pushing for national legalized wagering on games.

Dan Spillane, an attorney for the NBA, testified in front of a New York State Senate committee and for the first time made it clear what the league's price would be to become a partner in legalizing the multibillion-dollar industry.

The NBA wants 1 percent of every bet made on its games in addition to other regulations, a request that could create massive revenue for the NBA and other sports leagues in the future.

Can Don Goodell be far behind?

Ooh this is interesting. I wonder how Trump plays it out. Would this be good for casinos? Even if so, he might hate that it's good for team owners given that he never got to be a real one.

Unreal America
Legalized sports betting would be such a yuuuuuuge windfall for so many it's mindblowing that it hasn't already been enacted.

The leagues (and their politically connected owners) will make a ton. The media networks and digital sites will stumble into billions in ad revenue. The government will get a sweet cut. It's a win-win-win-win-win...

Originally I thought I was in the NBA thread, saw the screw-up, but given the nature of sports betting in the US, (and the traffic here due to the Pats/SB) said screw it. It will be more visible here.

If mods want to move it...
