That’s a great speech. Is Rod generally considered a good dude? I remember him being tough as a player, but haven’t really followed inside hockey in forever.
Loved how they had to point out the right locker for him to sit in after the game.
There’s probably going to be some kind of minimum experience and maximum age limit on these guys in the future. It happens so infrequently though that of course the league is prioritizing the EBUG issue instead of focusing on the real problems like offside reviews and officiating in general.During the HNIC panel discussion after the game on Saturday, Friedman said that when Ayres came in he received a number of messages from GMs of competing clubs upset that a Leafs employee was now playing against the Leafs. Of course those same GMs were cackling hilariously afterwards. Burke complained that how can a city like Toronto not have someone with more recent high level experience (juniors, NCAA) ready to fill in as en EBUG. I'm guessing these are at least some of the areas of focus.
Pretty sure they'd have to use the EBUG because of the fact that the 3rd goalie is not on the active roster that night. There’s probably going to be some kind of minimum experience and maximum age limit on these guys in the future. I don’t think I’ve seen an answer to this question yet- NYR are currently carrying 3 goalies, with 2 active on the game roster. If 2 went down in game, are they able to put the 3rd in as the EBUG, or do they have to follow the EBUG protocol because the 3rd goalie is not on the active roster? Just a hypothetical I thought of, though I realize 1 of their goalies is currently hurt.
Well yeah that would actually require serious work and fixing things that aren't working properly. Can't have that. There’s probably going to be some kind of minimum experience and maximum age limit on these guys in the future. Things have gotten pretty dire in Tarrana.Tonight’s out of town scoreboard, with lots of playoff implications:
Toronto @ Florida- Big swing game here in the race for the 3rd Atlantic spot. Leafs down to Ty Barrie and the Marlins defense. Both teams are trailing the two wild card teams at present.
NYR win in regulation and NYI lose in OT, so the Rags pick up a point there. The Rangers can certainly jump over Carolina with the Canes' goaltending concerns, as well as Columbus, who have gone 1-4-5 in the last 10 and are only two points ahead with two more games played. I expect to see them in the WC2 spot soon.Tonight’s out of town scoreboard, with lots of playoff implications:

NYR @ Montreal- The Rangers have crept back into the playoff race, 4 points behind CBJ for the final wild card with 3 games in hand. They do have Carolina 2 points ahead between with the same number of games left. The Habs are done. Haha!
Tampa @ Chicago- No Stamkos for Tampa.
NYI @ St. Louis- Islanders in WC1, 3 and 5 points ahead
