I honestly do not know, perhaps someone on the board who is a fan of the team can chime in. It sounds like a very typical Snyder thing to do but I don't know if that's actually the case.

I remember this being widely reported at the time, that Snyder broke RGIII, and Snyder overriding Shanahan is why Shanahan left.

It's a sad day for fans of the other NFC East teams.

Even as an Eagles fan, I'm genuinely happy for the Washington fanbase. It got to the point where I felt horrible for them, since every fan of the team that I know hates Snyder. (Side note: Has anyone ever met a fan of the team that actually likes or defends Snyder?)

I still hope the team sucks, but in a way every other incompetent NFL franchise sucks.

Also: it’s crazy to me that the Sixers—a competitive, generally well-run franchise with the reigning MVP—can be worth half of the sale price of an NFL team that has won a single playoff game since Bill Clinton was president and has one of the lousiest stadiums in pro sports. But I guess that’s the NFL for you in today’s America.

I had the opposite thought: that the Sixers were worth half of the WFT when local NBA TV deals are evaporating, while an NFL team is a license to print millions each year.

What's really wild is that the Sixers sold for less then $300 million in 2011 and now are worth over $3 Billion despite not even owning their arena. NBA valuations exploded when Ballmer bought the Clippers.
