What a bummer. Guy took a big leap this year. Not sure if it'll be wholly repeatable, but they really could have used him for the stretch run.

He'll end the season with a BABIP of .381 and a wrc+ of 120.

Fuck--he was the most entertaining Red Sox player this year and a great surprise. Future is still bright for him, though.

Manchester, N.H.
I hope that doesn't get him down, he's been a joy to watch this year and had such a massive comeback from a 2022 that could've wrecked him, Hope he's back and healthy for 2024.

This may actually be a blessing in disguise. Yeah, it sucks for 2023, but we weren't winning the championship anyway. He was kind of starting to fade a bit anyway -- his OPS for the games after the All Star break was actually a bit below .700. But overall, it's a really positive year, and so he goes into the off season having a pretty decent, albeit shortened, campaign -- given the mood going into the las offseason, that's maybe not a bad thing.

As disappointing as this is, and as disappointing as it was to have Duvall injured when he was on fire to start the season, those two players have really timed their hot streaks and injuries quite well with one another. Duran saved the season from one of mid-summer irrelevance. And while Duvall wasn't himself when he first returned, he got locked in again right when Duran went down.

It still stinks, but it's a silver lining.
