The NFL probably thought they would never have to consider the science angle. They likely thought that there would be an admission from a Pats coach or staff member that they tweaked the balls and RG would drop a punishment with a big fine and a draft pick and they would move on. Or, if the Pats stonewalled, that video or some other piece of evidence would emerge, as in the Rice case, and they would suspend BB.NDame616 said:
I agree this entire thing is horseshit, but I'm sure the NFL also had dozens of calls of local scientists willing to prove the other side
That's the one thing we haven't seen though. Every scientist interviewed by the media has essentially said that it's possible that the deflation could be natural.NDame616 said:

They don't really do that. They hardly even did it for Richard Jewell. They chew you up, and spit you out, and move on to find the next outrage to let everyone exercize their I'm so virtuous muscle.DeJesus Built My Hotrod said:It will be interesting to see if any of the media types come out and admit that they may have been wrong in thinking the Patriots did anything untoward here. I doubt they will and I suspect those who do will add grudgingly that the Patriots don't deserve the benefit of the doubt due to spygate etc. I am not holding my breath of course.
I'd be interested to see the proof that pressure can't change with cooling. And I'd be interested to see the scientific proof of anything without relatively precise data.NDame616 said:

He can take his wanna be 4 day growth hipster beard and be that guy that has his hands in his pockets, head down kicking the dirt, mumbling his apology next time he crosses paths with Tom Brady. Brady should just pull an Ayers and walk away without a word.

If they did ESPN would have put them on the air. Actually they kind of did with their SportScience series, but that didn't fit the narritive they wanted to ram home, so Mark Brunell.NDame616 said:

Wait...what? What other side of The Ideal Gas Law? Would these scientists happen to be Creationists? I hope and pray the NFL tries to debunk this.

FOX61 in CT put a physics professor from CCSU on a couple days ago who was talking about how he was using this as a teaching moment for his class. Yeah. It's hard to find scientists who oppose science. Just ask climate change deniers.
Yes they will get a lot of pregame interviews. Just not the kind they like.Papelbon's Poutine said:
I think Aikman has spent too long in the booth with Buck and his sanctimony. I also think that if Fox takes a Pats game this year, they might want to send a different crew. They're not going to get a lot of pregame interviews.

Let's just get this out of the way: In no way, shape or form do we feel like anyone was trying to cheat in Saturday's Bucknell-Boston University basketball game. What you are about to watch is NOT a big deal.
But with all of the hysteria going on this week with the New England Patriots and Deflategate, one can't help but laugh when presented with video of a college basketball game in Boston being slightly delayed due to ball inflation issues.
Yes folks, it's true. After the ref bounced the game ball before the opening tip, then let some of the Bucknell players test it out, he determined the ball was over-inflated and it was replaced by a new one.
You can't make this stuff up.

For all the bitterness and negativity these people let fly daily, they are by and large an incredibly skin-thinned lot.Gambler7 said:Who knew after banging the drum all week the "journalists" who ran the Patriots name through the mud to collect a few extra dollars through clicks and tv appearances would resort to then pointing the finger at Patriot fans for calling them out.
