That was bizarre. No rationale for it. None.
This is a fitting end to Urban’s career. He’s just going to barely escape.
Wow, brutal drop, and then amazing balance by Browning to not take a sack there. If the Huskies somehow score, and then get the onside kick and tie this up, that play will be the reason why.
Wow, what a catch.
Uggh, you can't throw a ball short of the sticks that stays in bounds in this position.
Out of bounds. No TD.
I don't think that right foot ever came down out of bounds before he stretched the ball out, but I don't know if he stretched the ball over the pylon. IMO, there isn't enough to overturn this.
Where is Pylon cam when you need it? This would be the perfect time for that.
Eh, maybe not.
Guys in stripes desperately trying to make the end of this game interesting.
That could be worse for Ohio State than if they got the 2 point conversion. If they recover the onside kick, Washington could win the game, rather than go for the tie. Luckily for Washington, they didn't change the kickoff rules for college like they did the NFL this year.
That would have been a cover.
What a fitting way for Ohio State to end their season -- a disappointing victory.
Just catching up on the UCF/UF debate. UCF has to take the 2-for-1 if it was offered by Florida. You can’t stomp your feet and complain that nobody will play you if that offer was on the table. Boise State built their reputation by going whenever, wherever and playing anyone. Go play guarantee games and beat teams on their field and you’ll earn people’s respect. Take any opportunity to play top power 5 teams.
“The stuff in the Summer.” —Meyer
In fairness, he really was the victim in all of that.
Just read that Tyler Trent passed away today. Sad, sad news.
Nice start for the Longhorns...
That opening drive tho!
2.5 over/under on years Myer stays retired.
If ND job opens up he’ll take it.
Better than landing the punt on the 2 was taking that snap while keeping his knee half foot off the ground... that would’ve been disastrous
Punter looked down
You mean weeks? Or months? Under please.
Wow, this could not have started any better for Texas.
Knee down indeed.
I would agree with you if it was 2010. The difference now is that UCF won't need the likes of Florida on their schedule if the playoff field goes to 8 teams, and all signs point to that happening before that 3rd game would ever get played. When that happens, it won't make sense to risk your shot at an undefeated season and a playoff game on a regular season road game in the Swamp against a team that frankly, isn't even that good or highly ranked anyway. There's a chance that 5 years from now, Florida needs UCF on it's schedule more than the other way around.
I believe that Texas had a more complete team than OU this year; I'm not surprised.
15 yard punt.
Awful decision by Fromm on third down there. He may not have had another open receiver, but he didn't give the routes long enough to even happen. He just decided to check down to his running back in the flat immediately, who had no chance of getting to the sticks.
And a shank by the punter. Everything going wrong for Georgia right now.
Georgia looks awful.
Sam Ehlinger is my god.
Oh no! They should have been in the playoff....along with UCF.
Everything Georgia is doing is wrong. If the tight end just turns upfield, he picks up the first down. Instead, they have to fight to get the first on third and short. They need a big play bad.
I assume they would’ve played better with proper motivation, but they’re certainly not giving themselves any room to complain now.
That was a fantastic drive by Georgia and Fromm.
Georgia is winning this game, just means we’re all gonna have to stay up later than we expected.
In an 8 team playoff it is likely to expand it the 5 power conferences gets auto bids so that leaves 3 at-large. This year ND, Georgia, and Ohio St would all deserve a bid before UCF.
The only way a Group of 5 team gets in any kind of playoff is if they are undefeated and has quality non league wins. There will never, ever be a situation where Florida needs UCF more than they do. There are no Gonzagas in college football.
I remember when Brady used to use that duck at the last second move to avoid sacks from the back side. Like he had eyes in the back of his head. Haven't seen it from Brady in a long time, but Ehlinger is amazing at feeling the hit coming and avoiding it.
Hey Beck, the option isn’t working. Cut the shit.
Settling for two FGs instead of TDs probably ends up the difference for Texas.
Get him in the 6th round?
Feels like they should be up 20+ points given everything that has transpired
If you've got next week's lottery numbers, send them my way, because I'd love to borrower your crystal ball. I completely disagree that if there was an 8 team playoff, the committee would have left UCF on the outside looking in, contrary to your opinion. If they put a 2 loss Georgia team into the playoff over an undefeated UCF team (2 years in a row, undefeated mind you), it would have been a disgrace. Could it have happened? Sure, but I haven't seen too many folks make the argument that it would have.
And the only reason we're having this discussion is because we happened to have a season in which 4 teams went undefeated, and one of them happened to be a no-conference Notre Dame team. You think that's more likely to happen than what happened last year (or any other year since 2013)? Or do you think UCF would have also missed in an 8 team playoff last year, as the only undefeated team in the country?
You know what Florida's AD actually offered UCF? He said "We are in need of a home opener for the 2022 season, so the 9/3/2022 date you mention would be a perfect date to begin the series, and we can fill in the remaining games from there.”
So this 3 game series doesn't even begin until 2022. When do you think it would end? 2025? 2027? Why would UCF ever commit to that in today's landscape? It doesn't make any sense. Florida could be Arkansas by then.
UCF only has one avenue to make it to the NCAA playoffs, in an 8 team situation. They have to go undefeated. Florida, on the other hand, could get an at large bid, but the only that happens is if Florida has a good out of conference schedule. You know what could be a good win for Florida in their out of conference schedule? UCF. You know what could be an irrelevant win to UCF because they have to beat everyone anyway? Florida. So yeah, there is an avenue in which UF needs UCF more than the other way around.
Oh, if Ehlinger lasted until the 6th round, I'd have no problem with the Pats or anyone else taking a flier on him. Kid is a gamer.
I love that Georgia players were ripping the committee on Twitter and are currently getting their asses kicked by a 9-4 UT team that really isn’t that good.
Why doesn't McDonough have an NFL gig anymore? Man, I said it earlier today and I'll say it again, these college broadcasting crews crap all over the morons that the networks feed us during NFL games.
Good half. Defense looked somewhat competent for the first time in a while but helped greatly by Georgia sucking.
IMO, the fact that Georgia was given the #5 ranking over a 1 loss Ohio State and an undefeated UCF was the original sin, as it were. I think the committee thought if they put one of those schools at 5, the backlash would have been even stronger, because the Big 10 didn't get a team in, and UCF was undefeated. By putting Georgia at #5, they could tell UCF and Ohio State they weren't even the first team on the outside looking in, and to Georgia, they could just say "Hey, you lost twice, and we took your conference champ." Georgia was the buffer between the committee and UCF/Ohio State, IMO. I think they've been pretty overrated for the most part, but I still think they come back and make a game, if not win this outright.
I'm proud of Texas' performance so far. I think the Longhorns will be a force to be reckoned with in the Big 12 next year.
