Play is rule dead when he started his slide. How is this possible?
I don't know how you stop that. Ultimately it was a yard too earlyAlso that QB slide was way too late. They have to stop that.
ThanksDead ball penalty just means the player was down. The nanosecond the QB is ruled down its first down for Duke. Everything after that just affects where Duke gets the ball.Very clearly correctly enforced.
So a 4th down late hit out of bounds would work the same way? Seems like a bit of a weird rule. It’s different in the NFL, where “live ball fouls” can occur after the ball is dead. In NCAA live ball fouls have to be when the ball is live and everything else is dead ball.
The college interpretation seems to make more sense. It’s different in the NFL, where “live ball fouls” can occur after the ball is dead. In NCAA live ball fouls have to be when the ball is live and everything else is dead ball.

Makes sense - can’t recall seeing it on a slide on 4th down before.Yes.
The idea is that the foul did not affect the fact that the offense did not make the line to gain.
Yeah, I think I agree. The college interpretation seems to make more sense.
