Although his peripherals aren't as great as the era, Workman does have a 1.29 era as a member of the Red Sox this year. And his velocity is going up as he pitches more. By my count that's seven - (seven!) - quality bullpen arms, with an eighth coming with the addition of Sale and potentially Houck and the subsequent reshuffling that will happen to the entire staff.
The pen is a strength. If Sale can come back strong (a big if) and another quality starter is added internally or externally, the Sox will have nothing short of an excellent staff. Considering the state of things in 2020, that's remarkable.
