Perhaps I am wrong, but I doubt it's ever as binary as all that.
Yes, there are situations that call for man and situations that call for zone. No matter what you run on base downs, on 3rd-and-5 99% of the time you're going to play man-to-man. Corners that can't play man-to-man sooner or later become a problem in any system.

And Browner's skill set wouldn't have a place in a mostly zone defense? Part of his value is in his toughness, and that translates to any system.
Part, but most of his value is in his press coverage. If you're not asking him to do that most of the time, he's not a $5-$6 MM player.

This being the case then what value does Chung bring? Harmon is a much better fit next to McCourty in a Cover 2 scheme than Chung who can't cover down field at all. Chung was one of the worst safeties in the NFL in PHI when he was forced into a coverage role. Virtually all of Chung's value is in his run defense. Is there a role for a 2 down DB?
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Chung in a zone-based system. I was really impressed with his man coverage against TEs this year, but he's still not great in zone.
