Hopefully they'll put Victorino in one of the luxury boxes, surrounded by a team of nurses wearing scrubs and surgical masks.
MLB Network is really screwing up by not showing the whole pregame ceremony, IMO. They're airing the 2013 World Series film right now until 1 pm, which is all well and good, but they can show that anytime. At 1 pm their new show, High Heat with Chris (Mad Dog) Russo, airs until 2 pm. Why not air Mad Dog at noon and join the festivities at 1?
Hell, why not do it every year for the defending champions? I can't think of a better marketing tool for the sport. It would be far more appealing than the early-season smattering of nondescript day games they're airing. Not every fan (or prospective fan) is going to be so provincial that they'd refuse to watch other teams' ceremonies. Sure, many of us don't want to see the Yankees or Phillies go through their bullshit, but what if it's the Cubs or Indians getting their rings and raising a banner? I think many of us, and a shitload of the sports-viewing nation, would be pretty stoked to see those cities celebrate a winner.
