Dombrowski compared the Red Sox offense to the Royals this past week, saying that they know how to keep innings alive

This was in response to Cafardo saying Boston needed more sluggers

That's ridiculous.  You have an incredibly potent offense and a lot of innings.  You manage to win today.

Questionable?  Yes.  Debatable?  Certainly.  Ridiculous?  No.

Just look at that spent bullpen.  Their arms are falling off.

Kevin Pillar is down in center field. Looks like he slipped after the throw. He's holding his right hand.

Wow, having to use Lowe here sucks. Unlikely he can go three days in a row with any effectiveness

Why not fully tank this game and use a position bench player? This game was over in the 7th anyways.

Reminds me of Wakefield sponging up Game 3 in 2004

ESPN Radio guys were making the Wakefield point about the job Kris Medlin did for KC in Game 3

Using Herrera here doesn't make much sense either except being afraid two days off in a row would leave him too rusty

The bullpen will have all off season to rest after tomorrow when the series ends.

RT @gregorMLB: Cliff Pennington is warming up in the bullpen. Seriously. #BlueJays

It would have been 3 in a row

Reynolds doesn't even know that a starting pitcher needs 5 complete to get the win

I have not seen any of this series because I don't have access to "FS1" and "SN" channels, yet I'm under black-out by MLB. Is this being discussed anyplace?

Yes, but you don't have access to it

I hope so, but today's game was so demoralizing that I don't think so. Not with that KC bullpen.

So is this oppo 1985? Do the Jays return the favor 30 years later, down 3-1?

The problem for the Jays is you need great pitching to fashion those sort of comebacks, and they really don't have much in the way of that.  You need an ace like Saberhagen, and a guy like Danny Jackson who can give you an ace-like start when facing elimination.   Right now the only Jays' starter they can rely on is Marcus Stroman, and he can't start Games 5, 6, and 7.

Price & Dickey available to come out of the pen today. (Gibbons says he will use Price today)
Stroman will come back on 3 days rest (Jim Bowden twitter).

I doubt the sight of either Price or Dickey coming out of the pen would fill the heart of anyone in the Royals dugout with dread.  It might scare Jays fans though...

It is bullshit. I pay for MLB.tv also, but I can't cut cable because I need to have TBS,FS1 and MLB Network to get playoff games.

I know they're desperate to keep cable alive, and that's one way to do it. But I don't like playoffs being a part of that. Forget length of games, this is what can kill interest in baseball for kids

If Toronto and Chicago fail to advance - it gives more credence to the notion that homerun-centric teams have a tough time winning in the post-season due to quality of pitching and weather issues...(as well as possible one-dimensiality, which may work out over sample sizes larger than the playoffs).

2015: Toronto (on the verge), Houston, Yankees, Dodgers (albeit the Mets come close)
2014: Baltimore, Angles, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Washington all had more HR's than the Giants, Royals, Cardinals
2013: Oakland, (Boston), Detroit, Tampa...

If that's at all true - the developing Red Sox lineup looks pretty good in comparison, more like the Royals than the Blue Jays

(Of course, I'm totally discounting pitching)

To sorta piggyback on this, it's utter bullshit you have to pay for MLB.tv in the postseason because your season subscription isn't good anymore. That's a flat-out money grab.
