This one hurts. Really wish he would have gone to the Clippers. It's going to suck watching him playing next to fucking Embiid.
This guy is a dope. He tweeted out that Horford to Philly was off the table right after the sign and trade with Miami was announced and then the Woj bomb dropped 10 minutes later.Sounds like the 76ers and Heat are looking for a third team to expand their Butler sign and trade deal, since Philadelphia won't take back much (any?) money beyond Richardson.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dragic ends up in DAL as part of this deal.Sounds like the 76ers and Heat are looking for a third team to expand their Butler sign and trade deal, since Philadelphia won't take back much (any?) money beyond Richardson.

Don’t believe they do have the MLE.So much for all the S&T machinations (I know they still have the full MLE which is not nothing).
The fact Al wasn’t willing to at least wait to see if Boston could match leads me to believe Boston was never really willing to offer anything close to what others were, or Al was really bitter about last year.
Cool so only $97 million.Woj:
The Horford contract has $97M guaranteed and $12M in bonuses tied to championships, league sources tell ESPN.
Al is going to be awesome as a 4 next to Embiid.
Simmons, Richardson, Harris, Al, Embiid is a massive lineup. If Zhaire Smith is the player I fear he might be, and Thybulle can earn minutes, that’s going to be a really difficult team to score on.Al is going to be awesome as a 4 next to Embiid.
Screw off, Al
Yet, early reports are that the Celtics wouldn't match. That's where I am.
NM. I'm dumbPhilly also gets Brogdon out of Milwaukee. Big score for them.
I hope he never sees that $12 million.Woj:

Yes but weakening Milwaukee might put them atop the conference.Wait what? Didn't he sign with the Pacers?
That's why I am thinking this team seems oddly constructed. Seems like they will have some spacing issues, but they are certainly a tall team to shoot over. They have 3 guys that are best in the post.
Doesn’t make sense to me. Simmons can’t shoot for shit.
Guessing like 4/80.Woj apparently said that the Celtics offer was significantly lower than 4/97 (I didn't see the clip but reputable people on twitter have said it).
If that is all they offered, then they didn't really want him back. Giving him 4 years at big money is nuts, but it was clear that someone would and the Celtics weren't willing to match.Guessing like 4/80.
This take is scorching. You pay your value on a guy and trust your system and organization. At some point you pay more so the rivals don't get him. Woj said Al's agent tried to get a deal done with Boston. So do it.
This is a players league now, it is no longer KG/Pierce/Ray.
Danny was handed Kemba when MJ lowballed him, and for some reason MJ wanted Terry. Or else we would be looking at Terry running point and nothing to show for Al and Kyrie.
Time for Zarren to take over. That's where I am now.
Lol - Kemba was “handed” to them? You realize he could have picked like 10 other teams to go to, right? At some point you pay more so the rivals don't get him. Woj said Al's agent tried to get a deal done with Boston. So do it.

Are you auditioning for EEI?At some point you pay more so the rivals don't get him. Woj said Al's agent tried to get a deal done with Boston. So do it.

Kyrie was a swing and miss. It happens. At some point you pay more so the rivals don't get him. Woj said Al's agent tried to get a deal done with Boston. So do it.

It isn't about paying the tax, it's about being able to add players. If you give Al 4 years, you're going to be unable to add players, you'll never get under the cap, and you'll have very limited exemptions once you go over the tax. It's why the Warriors bench has slowly eroded as time went on, except instead of having 4 top 20 players in the league, the Celtics would have none. The money doesn't matter when ownership has said since we won 25 games in 13/14 that they weren't afraid to pay the tax, and pay a lot of it. And with Al, we could have contended the next two years, now we wait and see if Jayson and Jaylen are what we hope.
It wasn't yet cap hell, this was Danny's chance to take advantage of the current CBA and pay his already under contract players as much as it took. The roster was set for the next six years really, which it still is now, Just without Al. If it works we then have Jayson and Jaylen maxed when Al and Kemba are coming off the books and we see what happened.
I'll give Danny credit, that he would have done it, but he underrated Al's market value.
I have long been opposed to thinking the draft picks are as big of assets as many, they are if you can draft Jayson or Jaylen, but they aren't worth that in a trade. And once they are made they really lost their value.
Thought we had the horses and should have ran with them. But I see all sides, and lets see if Enes Kanter can fill Al's shoes. (Spoiler, he Kant...)
Not only that but the Celtics would have to part with a good asset to the Nets to retain Als services for the next 4 years for 100 million. It isn't about paying the tax, it's about being able to add players. It's not though, if they did sign Al for a deal similar to what he just signed for the roster would have been set because they'd be capped out regardless. Potentially now in the next year or 2, depending on what happens with Brown and Hayward, they could easily have another max slot open. It's way too early now to say how that plays out, but there are certainly ways where this ends up working in the Cs favor beyond Al becoming cooked in a few years. The money doesn't matter when ownership has said since we won 25 games in 13/14 that they weren't afraid to pay the tax, and pay a lot of it. And with Al, we could have contended the next two years, now we wait and see if Jayson and Jaylen are what we hope.

Agree. Not quite Damon and Ellsbury territory but kindaThat hurts. That is like a Red Sox player leaving for the Yankees.
Pretty sure Sixers can sign Al and keep Harris with no cap issues, but if they can't find a new 3rd team they'd have to let Butler walk for nothing so they wouldn't get Richardson. So no unless they can't find a new team and they really really like Richardson. What does that mean? Does that throw a wrench into Horford’s cap space?
