I suppose this could go under the smartwatch thread but I don't actually care if it connects to my phone, and would prefer if it didn't.
Currently, I have two activity trackers.
First, I still have my fitbit Force. Even though I am one of the people that is allergic to it. I haven't worn it in a while, but I did like it's functionality.
Second, I have a Garmin Forerunner 610. This is for running and cycling. My bikes were stolen over the summer so I have lost all of the accoutrements but part of the reason I got it was the cadence meter and heart rate monitor connection.
The Garmin is a great device in terms of providing functions for size. However, Garmin themselves are awful. They constantly roll buggy software updates that only work on newest equipment, and then trail firmware updates to the device after they get enough complaints that it doesn't work. Ironically, I am currently stuck in a loop where the software updated first, and now doesn't connect to my device, which needs a firmware update to talk to the software properly. Oops. So I will have to find an old version of the software and update the device then upgrade the software. I'm sick of doing this shit and so am just about done with Garmin as a company because of it. My device is a few years old but I did pay ~$450 for it and the accessories, it shouldn't have an artificially short lifespan because they suck at QC of their software.
So anyway I am curious what people are using if anything. It would be especially nice to get all of the functionality of both devices, but I doubt that is possible.
