Two ex-Sox on the Omaha roster: RHP Clayton Mortensen & IF Pedro Ciriaco.

Mort turns 30 in April, and he's the older pitcher on the Storm Chasers staff.

North Carolina is an awful place to travel for just one marble.

Cuzittt, as always, you run one of the best places on the internet.  In years like this, especially, when we could simply be wallowing in the putridity that is the 2014 Red Sox, you (and mabrowndog) do an outstanding job of letting the rest of us know that the future look better than the present.  I don't post in here too often, but this is the subforum that I make sure to check every day, and it is mostly because of the hard work of the two of you, so thanks guys.

Cuz....

Just wanted to say thank you.  Checking out these threads are part of my daily routine, and I can't imagine not having this easy way to keep up on all the prospects and affiliates.

Thanks for all you do!

Echoing the sentiment of the past couple of game threads.  Thank you again, Cuzittt.  I wear this thread out every day.  Its my favorite part of SOSH.  Much appreciated.

Just noticed Blake Swihart went on the 7-day DL on Saturday before Game 5 (with uber-coach-in-waiting Matt Spring activated). No idea what's up, but I assume it's nothing too serious since Blake is with the team in Charlotte.

Lavarnway caught games 2 & 5 vs Durham, but I never really gave it much thought and attributed it to late-season rest for the kid.

EDIT - Apparently he jammed his thumb making the series-saving tag at the plate in the b-10th in Game 4.

Marrero with a great play to his right, making the long throw to 1st to get the speedy runner look effortless. Keeps Ciriaco at 2B.

Other than snippets in a few scattered college football games over the years, I haven't heard George Grande's voice since the original SportsCenter days in ESPN's infancy. He sounds great. Having Kaat on color work is a good broadcast pairing.

I've never been a Kaat fan, but totally agree about Grande

Nice job of hitting there, golfing one of Escobar's low-zone offerings and pulling it over the LF fence.

Tied 1-1.

Cecchini literally caught dead to rights. Leaning too far off 1B, awkwardly scrambles back, too late.

I loathe stupid baserunning outs.

Escobar impressive so far.  Good stuff, keeps it down, lots of strikes, and they're chasing his low stuff

Lavarnway must be one of the slowest runners in professional baseball
I knew he was going to be out, but it was still shocking seeing just how out he ended up being.
