Even after Bear Claw got pummeled, he still has a career 3.86 ERA in the majors in 282 IP.i guess if it is truly the case that no one else was available then they needed to have made a move prior to the game to have at least someone else available in case the reliever you brought up that was recently in Independent ball had absolutely nothing when coming in after Sale )who should not have been being counted on to go long). It just seems crazy to me to go into a game that important with Sale and Barraclough responsible to get you through 7 innings with no other options at all. Just frustrating (to me at least) that that was the situation.
Yes? They been outscored 26-7 in a must win series while playing stupid baseball, bad baseball, and making bad managerial decisions. Clearly, Astros are better but this team has not risen to the occasion at all. They literally played this team to a standstill just last week. Can it really be a choke when you are losing to teams that are better than you?
There are tiers in all organized sports, the Red Sox are not in the highest tier, they are not in the lowest tier. I believe they are in the low side of the middle tier.
Yes, they spoil a lot of pitcher's pitches.Houston has fouled off 1,000 pitches in this series.
As they say; our destiny is in our own hands. It really is about just finishing ahead of the MFYs.I'd feel better about our chances if we didn't have to play them 4 more times.
Going to be tough to recover after today's perfect game blowout. As they say; our destiny is in our own hands. It really is about just finishing ahead of the MFYs.
It was just one of those days when no one had anything against a really good hitting team and Sale & Barraclough got pummeled for it.Even after Bear Claw got pummeled, he still has a career 3.86 ERA in the majors in 282 IP.
This year in AAA for Worcester, he is 8-0, 2.43 in 55 IP. He's basically been the best pitcher down there.
He's not that bad of a pitcher, but when he doesn't have command, he can get hammered. He's not someone you want to leave out there to try to improve when he's hitting batters and giving up rockets, but that was the situation. The hope was that Sale could pitch into the 6th and then you get by with Bear Claw until you can get to Martin, and then hopefully Jansen.
Bernadino has been really missed so much this homestand.
PssssstGoing to be tough to recover after today's perfect game blowout.
He has another 10 years to figure it out....Rafael Nevers
Eyeroll. He's not a passive bystander. His staff is prepping them. He's pulling them.Yah... Not much Cora can do when the entire rotation has not gone at least 5IP....
WE have another 10 years to figure it out. He's already paid.He has another 10 years to figure it out....
Yes. Much better than DOB.Youck is good with the kids. A bright spot during a tough day on the field.
I can't even begin to imagine. Childhood cancer is truly the devil on this Earth.
DOB sucks, but he's not worse than childhood cancerYes. Much better than DOB.
Snort. Thank you for that.DOB sucks, but he's not worse than childhood cancer
Just now?Starting to think Houston is a better team than we are.
I'm not watching but Garrett Whitlock seems like just about the last pitcher on earth that would try to hit someone with a baseball.Whitlock with what seemed 100% to be a purpose pitch on Altuve.
Astros may refrain from any retaliation, though, and just get out of town.
Wise. You always want to hedge your bets. It would be like saying "It seems as though the Astros are done scoring for the day."I mean I didn't want to jump the gun.
I hear ya, but Sal Maglie would be proud of that Whitlock pitch. It was a classic close shave up and in, but he didn't drill him.I'm not watching but Garrett Whitlock seems like just about the last pitcher on earth that would try to hit someone with a baseball.
They've gotta be bored with it by now, right? Scoring runs is old news.Wise. You always want to hedge your bets. It would be like saying "It seems as though the Astros are done scoring for the day."
If we get swept in the most important series of the year, and the only work our two best relievers guys is mop up duty, that will be pretty damning on Alex.Do Martin and Kenley get into this game just to get some work?
Why?If we get swept in the most important series of the year, and the only work our two best relievers guys is mop up duty, that will be pretty damning on Alex.
He's already done games with MonacoI’d really like to see Youk with a play by play guy with a personalit.
No. Cora is saving them for the playoffs.Do Martin and Kenley get into this game just to get some work?
I was in favor of it at the time, but you’re right.Game thread thought - but I wish we didn't extend Devers. He's going to age horribly.
