Raffy sucks at third, always has. He’s being paid for his bat. DH him, I guess. But what are we really expecting from Devers? He’s got a 975 OPS the past month.

Everyone suddenly hating on Raffy for being the same guy he’s always been is weird to me .

His foundation does incredible things for The Jimmy Fund. Can you imagine standing in the box against him in Fenway? Worth every damn dollar.
Right. "Sports hate" Roger all you want, but the guy - whatever shortcomings he had is his playing days - does a lot of great stuff.

This ump is the best I can remember on calling balls and strikes.
He's fantastic. There's a LOT of great young umps out there. It's the old guard that is fucking everything up.

My hopes for a win tonight are evaporating. I think the only chance at this point is that the Astros get a lead big enough to have to use their slop relievers, and then they leave one in a bit too long and we get lucky with bases loaded.

He's worse at third base. He has been really saved by some fucked up scoring decisions this year. But his range and his play have been as bad as I've ever seen. Every ball down there is a potential baserunner.

I just disagree that he's always been this bad. Yes, he has been error prone, but competent through it all. It's a position where you have to be close to perfect, and he has never been that. But he looks significantly worse to me this year.

100% agreed. I'm repeating myself, but he isn't transferring the ball right. Maybe he needs a new glove.

Still not a fan -- but will definitely give him credit for the long-time charitable support. Can't complain about that!

I think there was some hope that he’d improve at third. There’s precedent for guys doing so (Boggs is a great example)

Given the shape he’s in and the lack of progress, i think it’s fair for fans to be concerned about the $300MM bet the organization placed on him

Very cool of Clemens. Never thought I'd like the guy again, but here we are.

If these very same "fans" weren't constantly whining about Betts and X, this organization probably doesn't feel the need to place that bet.

SoSH is considered the "better" fans, and even people around here were screeching about Bloom like he was intentionally triggering the End Times.

Fans can't impact the product on the field...until they do.

Do guys normally improve after “getting the bag”? He’s always been bad defensively, I think we should expect him to continue to be bad defensively, while hoping that he gets better, I guess.

You know, the top 7 of this order actually looks really good on paper, if you assume that Story will get back to being Story. It would be really nice to see what they could with all pulling the oar in the same direction and surging at the same time.

If you DH him he won't have his shitty fielding to keep his mind from the 1 to 2 week vacations that his bat is prone to taking every other month.

Yeh. Pretty selfish. Not helping the team. Guess that's been an ongoing issue with him. Not a good look Dugie.
It was interesting that Cora backed down right away when the ump explained why he tossed Verdugo. Cora actually patted the ump on the back.

Didn’t really look like Alex objected to Verdugo’s tossing. Don’t wanna go all “body language expert” here but he looked like a dude who’s just tired of Verdugo.
