Perales' final line:

5 innings
1 run
0 earned runs
4 hits
3 walks
10 strikeouts

82 pitches, 50 strikes

Dan Altavilla came in. I didn't realize he had moved from FCL to A+ on his rehab journey, but apparently he is finding it harder. He allowed a hit, walk & run in the 6th inning.

Lyonell James got a double. Mikey is no longer an island.

Bolden got the final out, so Ramirez's final line is...0.2 innings, 4 runs, 1 earned run, 4 hits & 1 walk. 31 pitches, 14 strikes.
Caleb Bolden ended up pitching 3.1 scoreless, hitless, innings of relief, allowing 1 walk & striking out 5. He lowered his ERA to 3.52.

C note is fire right now and given how meaningful improving his plate discipline is, today might have been his best day ever as a pro. With Mayer badly slumping, I could see Ceddanne moving into the top Sox prospect position, and high on the list of all prospects in baseball.

Salem finally scored a run in the 6th on an Albert Feliz homer.

It will be interesting to track. Not sure if anything clicked with him today or whether the pitching was just that bad.

He's definitely mashing, though.

Reidis Sena blew the lead in his 1st game since his promotion from Salem.

He pitched 1 inning & allowed 2 runs in the 8th (2 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts).

4-4 in the 9th with Brock Bell pitching.

Royman Blanco also not doing great in his 2nd game since promotion to Salem. 2 innings today, 3 runs, 5 hits.

I feel like the pitchers would probably fair better if they promoted their better pitchers, but I'll just assume they know what they're doing on all these.

Bell ran into a little trouble in the 9th, allowing b2b lead off singles to start the inning. But then he struck out the side.

He's been quite good lately.

ROMAN is up 4th in the bottom of the 9th if anyone gets on.

Cody Scroggins seems about ready to put an end to his rehab assignment in Salem. He has a 1.93 ERA in 9.1 innings, including 2 scoreless tonight.

Flyout/strikeout/strikeout

Roman will lead off the bottom of the 10th.

Salem lost 7-1. Nothing really to add since I've already told y'all about their 3 hits & their walk, as well as all their pitching.

Bell back out for the 10th. He should consider starting off his innings better. Manfred Man + single = 1st & 3rd 0 out.

Gonzalez was 2-5 with one (1) game winning hit.

Alex Erro was 1-3 with a double & a walk.

While I obviously care most about the tip-top prospects, I am increasingly finding myself rooting hardest for what I might as well call Bloom’s Boys—the easy sign college pitchers that we’re trying to squeeze insane value out of. Coffey, Rogers, Dean, Hoppe, Bolden, Dobbins (higher bonus for him to be fair)

If literally even one of the guys who signed for like $50k and under make an impact at the MLB level it will be a huge win. Hoppe has had mixed results (lots of Ks but lots of base runners too) but a guy who can touch 100 for $32k? Yes please. I think part of the appeal is if they keep climbing up the ladder with success, you won’t have to squint too hard to see them as part of a future solid cheap bullpen, maybe with some multi-inning ability. And someone like Dobbins may have a case to continue as a starter until proven otherwise.

Aside from them it is hard to argue against Rafaela and Romulus Antonius these days. What a season they are both having.

That's a fun group. Will be interesting to see if the '23 crop moves similarly. If I had to list my rooting interests by type I think it would be...

1) High end young international arms (Perales & Yordanny mostly, Wikelman & Bastardo to a much lesser extent).

2) Highest end hitting prospects (Roman/C Note/Mayer/Yorke/Bleis next year/Bonaci).

3) Super young international hitters who I feel like I'm in on the ground floor on (Johanfran/Yoeilin/Starlyn/Fraymi/etc).

4) Super young international pitchers who I feel like I'm in on on the ground floor on (Wuilliams/Obed/Cohen/etc).

5) That group of Chaim pitchers + Drohan.

6) Other random international pitchers who don't quite fit the other categories (Paez/GJax/Elvis/Ramirez/etc.)

7) Other potential high leverage bullpen arms (Guerrero/Troye/Brand/Fernandez/etc.)

8) Random hitters who I like for various reasons (A. Hernandez/Rosier/Lopez/Rosario/Scott)

9) The secondary hitting prospects (Mikey/Blaze/Meidroth/Castro/Hickey/Coffey/etc).

10) Other

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch. Just did that off the top of my head.

Am I crazy to think that Anthony is in line for another promotion? He seems to be the best guy on the field every night in Greenville.

I think about it from time to time. There's definitely some room in the Portland outfield along with Rosier & Sikes if they choose to go that direction.

It's only been 140 PAs & I would guess they'd give him at least 200, but who knows?
