Four very interesting pitching prospects on the hill for the Sox.  These threads are the most exciting part of my day reading SOSH, for better or worse this year.

Wow, 12 Ks for Johnson is another step up. It'll be interesting to see if that starts a trend.

Sadly, there's a name not on your list.

By recent Trey Ball standards, it's pretty decent.  Made it through six innings, with six hits and a walk.  Just two earned runs.

Still, next time we wind up with a Top 10 draft pick, I'll dream bigger....

Johnson turning a corner this season has to be one of the better stories from the farm that doesn't involve Mookie Betts or Rafael Devers.

Yep. He's a legit prospect now. Just another arm.

The more you look at this system, the more I think not making a trade with these arms would be a mistake.

Besides being shelled once on July 7th, Johnson has been pretty damn spectacular for months. I want to see him in AAA soon.

There are way too many useful pieces than the Sox can use. I say it a lot but it's more true than ever. Choosing which to keep and which to move could determine the next decade.
You keep the right 4-5 young arms and the right bats and you have the core of a young cheap team, and can spend whatever you want on the right stars. Plus moving the others gets you yet more pieces, or the access to those superstars to pay with the money saved by the cheap kids.

Do it wrong and you have a bunch of arms that you can't decide if they are good enough, and bounce up and down to AAA to work on things etc. All of a sudden you just have nothing but a cheap middle of the road team.

The scared thing to do is keep them all, but IMO this is wrong. Firstly, the team rarely get to a place where you can let a lot of rookies struggle adjusting at once, see this year for details. You want to mix in one or two a year (outside the bullpen), plus have the depth for injuries etc.
I mean are the Sox really going to go into a year like next year with more than half the rotation as question marks, let alone add yet more rookies to a team without JBJ/ X/ WMB etc showing enough this year to be confident?

I mean there is a sensible team next year than has RDLR, Ranaudo, Webster and Workman all fighting for rotation places. JBJ, X, WMB all still uncertain and at some point trying to add in Betts, Marrero, Owens etc as well. That's before you get to Johnson and Barnes etc. There's too much talent for too few places.
