Luis Jerez isn't the most exciting starter option, but he turns 21 in August so he's probably further along developmentally than a lot of the DSL graduate arms.

Jerez had a 3.21 ERA (4.13 xFIP) in 33.1 DSL innings last year. 8.3 k/9, 2.4 bb/9. Jerez signed for $18k in December '22 & is from Cuba. I had him #125 in my pre-season rankings.

He pitched a scoreless 1st, despite allowing a 2-out single to the newest Acuna brother, Bryan, & a 1-2-3 2nd.

Jerez is done after 2 scoreless innings, 1-hit innings, 0 bb, 0 k.

Cristofer Soriano, another older DSL grad, is in for the 3rd.

Soriano, 21, is from Santo Domingo, DR. The 6'1 RHP signed for $10k in July '22.

He had a really up & down DSL season with good results (3.04 ERA in 26.2 IP), but bad underlying #s (5.46 xFIP, 8.4 K/9 7.4 BB/9).

Soriano allowed a couple hits & threw a wild pitch, but got out of the inning scoreless with the help of Kelvin Diaz throwing out a runner at the plate from LF for the 2nd out.

Jesus Garcia is in for the 5th. I'm intrigued by how he does this year. The 18 y/o had a 3m30 ERA (4.15 xFIP) in 43.2 innings as a starter last year in the DSL. 7.4 k/9, 3.1 bb/9.

Garcia is a 6'1 RHP who signed for $130k in January '23 & is from Santa Inez, Venezuela.

The Savior was my #67 prospect coming into the season - probably overly-optimistic considering that k-rate, but YOLO.

Garcia's inning got off to a rough start with a walk, a Starlyn throwing error, a Starlyn fielding error (3 errors already today for Starlyn) & a B. Acuna walk.

Andruw Musett picked up a 2nd single, & scored on a Yohander Linarez home run. Linarez hit 0 homers in 191 ABs in the DSL last season.

Jesus ended up allowing 4 unearned runs in 0.1 IP.

FCL repeater Yonfi Rodriguez came in & has pitched 1.2 scoreless. FCL Sox down 6-5 in the 7th on 6 runs that have now all been determined unearned on Starlyn errors.

Yonfi ended up allowing 2 runs in 3.2 IP. The FCL Sox lost 8-6.

Andruw Musett was 3-4 with a hbp.

Starlyn Nunez was 1-5 with a 3-run homer, 3 errors & 2 strikeouts. Quite a rollercoaster of emotions.

Yohander Linarez was 1-3 with a homer & a walk.

Kelvin Diaz was 1-3 with a walk, 2 steals & 2 OF assists.

Kleyver Salazar was 1-3 with a walk.

Raimundo De Los Santos was 1-5 with a steal.

Franklin Arias was 0-5 with 2 k's :/

Portland lost game one of their doubleheader today 13-4. Imagine how many runs they could have allowed in 9 innings...

Zeferjahn pitched the last 2 innings scoreless, 1 hit, 1 bb, & 3 k's for his 3rd save. He's now up to 12.2 scoreless innings this season.

I moved Robert Kwiatkowski up 69 spots in the most recent rankings, but if he keeps pitching like this I'm going to have to move him up even more...
