I assume you mean her photography skills (since she was able to mirror-reverse the image). Because, otherwise, you're sort of proving the point.

Nope, I was referring to her being a gawd-damned Ham Planetzenter said:

I'm thinking about jumping ship after having my S3 get buggy on me time after time. Is anything coming through the pipeline around the same time that would make me change my mind?
SumnerH said:I just replaced the screen on my phone (LG g2). It's surprisingly easy, no soldering or anything like that. Just a lot of screws, careful prying, and cutting tape to fit. I pulled up a YouTube vid and just followed along. Tedious, but very doable; total cost $70.

Her mom just started up a Mobile Share plan on AT&T, and is offering to add us to the plan and cover a portion of our costs, which would end up cutting our monthly wireless bill in half. The main issue is having to get new phones, at a time when we are a bit cash poor from having just bought a house. I'm cheap, so I would keep my S3 if I could, but that is not an option. What phones are out there these days that are good but not way up in the $600 range?

Give the messaging app "Hello" a try. Clean an simple with tabbed message streams.
Yes, and I didn't get that to work either.jayhoz said:Have you tried adding a "Microsoft Exchange" account?
Verizon closed this loop hole in the last month or so.jayhoz said:Don't drop the dumb phone just yet. Do some digging on this, but at one point you could use a situation such as yours to keep unlimited data. It's called a buddy upgrade I believe. Instead of your son using his upgrade to get the iPhone 6 and losing unlimited data, you should upgrade the dumb phone line to the iPhone 6, swap the iPhone 6 to your son's line and then cancel the dumb phone line. If this still works you'll need to look into how much this will cost you and if that is worth it to you to keep unlimited data. There's the cost to keep the phone active until the 6 launches, the cost of the data plan you will need to sign up for and then cancel, etc. I'm not sure of all the details so make sure you do your research including how to not get hit with an ETF for cancelling the dumb phone line. Good luck.
Looks like it was announced that it would be closed about a month ago, and Verizon officially closed it about two weeks ago:jayhoz said:The loophole I used worked just over a month ago. I ordered an LG G3 from Amazon and activated it with my old sim card from the phone on my unlimited line. As of today I am still unlimited.
- Moto Voice – Do more than ever with just your voice, without ever touching the phone. Use your voice to interact with some of your favorite apps like Facebook, YouTube, and Whatsapp. Even personalize the experience with your very own customized voice prompt like “You there Moto X?” or “Wake up buddy!”
- Moto Assist – Life can be hectic, and Moto X can adapt its behavior in certain situations so that you can do more or never be interrupted. It can read aloud new text messages while you’re driving or at home It can also keep quiet during meetings, or turn off all sounds when you go to bed – it even knows to turn everything back on in the morning as you start your day.
- Moto Display – You don’t have to wake Moto X up to look at the time or sneak a peek at your latest messages. When your display is off, up to three notifications pulse quietly on the screen without interrupting you. If you want to take a peek, simply touch and hold one of the notification icons and more details will appear. Slide left or right to see other messages too – all without ever waking up your screen or unlocking your device.
- Moto Actions – Go beyond just tapping and swiping your screen. Use simple and reliable gestures to conveniently interact with your Moto X. It knows when your hand is approaching and activates Moto Display. Wave your hand to silence incoming calls or snooze alarms.
smastroyin said:My first month on a limited data plan has not been pleasant. I looked back at two years of data usage and never went above 3.5 GB other than when I came back from a two week trip to Europe and let my phone update about 80 apps over 4G while sitting waiting for luggage. I went over 6 GB with 4 days left in my cycle. The biggest culprit seems to be google maps, which I typically use less than 300 MB per month, this month was almost 2 GB. Some of that is a trip where I used Navigation, but even outside of that week, gmaps has been sucking down about 10 times as much data as normal. Even still, where is all of this other usage coming from. Facebook is about double of normal, I guess maybe the bigger screen lets facebook send higher resolution pictures? I'm not sure how they push content. The other thing I am wondering is whether the phone is tapping into mobile network even when I am using wireless, because it leaves the mobile data icon active.
Mount the phone as a shared drive, copy stuff on and off with your normal tools. The G2 definitely lets you mount it as a wireless drive, no MTP or other horseshit required. I wouldn't buy a phone that didn't allow you to treat it as a regular drive (it's the major reason I ditched the iPhone to begin with).Fratboy said:For you guys without SD cards, how do you transfer data, etc.? MTP is a royal pain, right?

Airdroid does everything you want it to do without actually connecting it to the computer, right?SumnerH said:Mount the phone as a shared drive, copy stuff on and off with your normal tools. I assume this requires a desktop client that is running and connected in order to pull down files on mobile?AlNipper49 said:I've been plugging this like crazy but bit torrent sync is the best sync tool that I've ever used, hands-down

locknload said:Just found out i'm officially up for a new phone. I currently have a S3 so any of the new gen phones will be a huge upgrade. Mainly started looking between the G3 and S5. I like my S3 but can't stand any of the samsung apps so I end up just removing most of it. I'm leaning toward the G3 and the only really thing that is holding back is I really like the waterproof features of the S5. I have young kids so protecting the phone is key when they inevitably get their hands on it so a case is required. The G3 already seems really wide so adding a case with reasonably protection could make it a behemoth. Anyone with a G3 have a decent case that keeps the width <= 3in?
