The intensity is fun and these guys are all racheted up to 11 but the bitching after every call/non-call and the long ref conversations are a bit much. Thibs might want this one back.

This feels like its going to be another closely contested one at the end. They are playing hard AF and its the first quarter.

Feels like a ‘90s blood match. Nothing better than basking in the glow of a Cs playoff win and watching two teams beat the hell out of each other in front of a raucous crowd.

Embiid is looking pretty fucking fine right now. Something to remember when people are inevitably making excuses for him when they (again) flame out.

That's exactly what he was doing. The Embiid conditioning narrative feels played out but monkeys love their football
I have been on that for past years---and believe on the merits I was correct---but this year his conditioning has seemed totally fine to me (last year I thought so as well). There's a bit of a 'ramping back up' question right now, but it's different than past years, imo.

I also give the guy credit - his knee is obviously an issue, and he's been out there fighting through it very admirably and effectively. So to degree he is building back his wind, that is not an effort or desire thing at all, that's just managing the injury on off-days.

Indeed - this series in particular has been so fun. I could watch them play a 14 game series actually.

The Orlando-Cleveland series is physical but not all that exciting or well-played.

This is both those things in addition to being physical

I'm a bit surprised that the Knicks aren't trying to match Hartenstein's minutes to Embiid. He should be sitting when Embiid is on the bench.

IMO the conditioning questions early in his career were entirely fair. As you note, what he is doing out there is pretty amazing. Imagine if he were fully healthy.

This first quarter has been the 76ers team that people didn't want to see in the playoffs.

New York's playing Embiid straight-up and letting him get the ball in the paint without much trouble has not been ending well for them.

New York needs to win the more than just the non-Embiid minutes.
They're also fine letting Embiid sit in drop coverage, which is bad for a bunch of reasons. Only Brunson and Divincenzo seem ok taking 3's off the dribble, and if they're just gonna let Embiid sit in the paint on defense where he can rest and not test his mobility (and where he's most comfortable anyway), it's a failure.

I tend to think of free throws as kind of independent of the rest of the game, but they aren’t entirely. I think there is a component of fatigue and rhythm. Maybe that’s a “no shit” insight, but it is noticeable in these more intense playoff games.

Hart and Oubre are handfighting and chirping and its only the second quarter. One will emerge from this game with the other's head on a spike.

Philly only being able to score 2 points in the four minutes that Embiid sat at the start of the second was obviously not what Philly fans wanted to see

Joel looking fatigued and less energetic by the end of the second. The guy's best plays have been huge. But there are shades of Anthony Davis here: if he doesn't have gas in the tank to keep that up the whole game...

Strikes me as a big reach.

A reference to climbing it, though, and I'd have got there with you.
I hadn't even thought of that one. This feels like the Louis CK bit about how saying "the n word" just makes me have to say it in my head.

Hoping for these two teams to beat the fire out of each other for seven long games with the winner having nothing left so they lose to Indy.

Can you imagine how fun a NYK-BOS ECF would be though? The outsider part of me would love that. The Celtics fan in me would prefer Indy.
