Worth noting in some pre-draft stuff it was mentioned Milton might be a TE conversion like Logan Thomas

Man what a difference a year makes. Last year it was Jones, Zappe, and one other guy I completely forget.

Now it’s Maye, Brissett, and Joe Milton.

Holy smokes.

BB is the GOAT and all that, but this draft has been more fun and entertaining than anything on the field the last 2 years.

Milton is terrible, 6th rd so whatever but he is a 6yr starter who completed 38% of his passes over 10 yards last season. Can anyone name a single "toolsy" QB taken 5th rd or later? Productive QBs occasionally provide value like Purdy or Case Keenum, toolsy guys never translate.

I 100% believe this is our TE pick.

Haha my first thought too when I saw the list. And Harpo made the opening kick tackle! Also remember jingle joints Sellers as a mostly bust for a high draft choice
Ron Sellers lived up the street from us in Foxboro. Used to see him jogging through the neighborhoodl.

Don’t get this one so much. Don’t you sort of need to have Zappe (or someone else) as backup QB for the first half of the season or so? If Brisset gets hurt in a game, I don’t think you can really just run Maye or Milton out there. So, if Milton goes to the practice squad, won’t someone else just grab him (unless he’s really terrible)?

Zappe to the practice squad?
You won’t worry about losing him, and if Brisett gets injured you finish the game with Maye/Milton and activate Zappe the next game if needed.

They figure to have an extra spot or two--in the sense they likely won't have as many special teams only guys.

Put Zappe on the PS and elevate him until you feel OK bringing in Maye if need be?

What's the new emergency QB rule again? How would that impact the gameday roster with regard to Brissett / Maye / Zappe / Milton?

Sure you can. Rookies start all the time in the NFL, especially highly drafted ones. And if they lose games, so what?

12 of the first 14 picks in the 7th round have been traded at least once.

Pats select Jaheim Bell, TE from FSU with their final pick

Strengths
  • Runs well to stretch the field both before and after the catch.
  • Toughness to finish contested catches in the middle of the field.
  • Able to create first downs out of catch-and-run throws in heavy traffic.
  • Creates momentum into contact at point of attack and when climbing.
  • Has versatility for a variety of alignments all over the field.
Weaknesses
  • Hip tightness shows up in route running and stride length in open field.
  • Turns to quarterback and gears down rather than finishing routes at times.
  • Struggles with instincts and feel as a run blocker.
  • Needs to do a better job of fitting up and finishing as lead blocker.
  • Hands and catch radius are slightly below average.

Gotta remember this for next year's draft contest... 8 picks, 7 of them came here on 30 visits and the only one who didn't we hired his position coach.

Edit- 6 of 8 forgot Dial didn't visit
