So many trades I would have preferred NE take this round. How did they have all day to make trades and end up with the least amount of additional capital so far. Polk is a fine pick but nothing unique about him. If we had added a second top 75 pick or pick next year that would have been a lot more interesting.

I hate the Eagles and I hate that they are so good at drafting.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean is a damn good start

Polk rhymes with “Foulke” so it’s really hard to find issue with this pick.

QB, WR…they’re at least trying to address key issues so let’s hope they’re right.

Man, Lattimore Kool-Aid and Mathieu is a fun defensive backfield to watch.

I still would have much rather had McConkey (or taken the Atlanta trade) but Polk is a good player.

Like I said, I’ve seen him consistently comp’d to Chris Godwin and that’s a good prototype for rookie QB
Not that speed is a be all end all or that Polk is slow, but Godwin was significantly faster and had freaky agility testing (I think he had like a 99th percentile 3-cone or short shuttle?)

Nice clip of what Polk can do... obliterates zone, gets wide open then shows great hands and elite hops to catch a horrendous throw from the #8 pick

“Spent one year at Texas Tech. Came from the same high school as Dez Bryant. This guy is tough. He makes so many contested catches; so many catches that aren’t necessarily the highlight reel [type] but are in tight areas, or when he’s posting up a perimeter corner. Doing things outside of his frame so consistently. Making the difficult things look effortless. "I think the run-after-catch skill is fine. I get it – he had a 4.52 ‘40’; he’s not going to blow you away in that regard. But if you’re looking for a guy who is consistently making the difficult things look easy, it’s Ja’Lynn Polk. He had a wonderful game against Michigan State in which he was making catches like he was part of cirque du soleil. "Was great at the pro day. Love seeing the energy he brought to the table. I’m in on Ja’Lynn Polk; I think he deserves to go somewhere in the second round.”

So it sounds like Polk’s forte is being a good security blanket type. If the Patriots are putting a premium on receivers that have specific skills that make them complimentary for a rookie QB, and put that above some of the best receiver available factors, I am all for it. At least it is a plan.

Wonder if they are monitoring the OT run (Rowengarten, Paul, Sumaitia) for a trade up. An extra pick for dropping would have helped.

I mean at least it's a WR. BB would have been even odds to draft Melton or another CB instead.

Mitchell's combo of low production and potential off field issues is likely scaring teams. The athletic profile is stupid enough that I'd take him in the second round, but his drop isn't all that surprising.

So, 6-8 more picks or so and I think one of the fourths should allow us to move up from 68 if there were someone we really wanted.

I will say, if you liked Polk he probably wasn't going to be there in the 3rd. Most people have him in the top 50. Maybe could have traded back to 40+ but might not be worth it to risk it if you like him.
Yeah this is probably true. Shrager’s mock had him going 32 so not a complete outlier. Jakobi Meyers with more juice is one comp that makes sense based on what I’ve seen. Very good blocker and reported dawg, so I can get down with it.
