Game has changed a bit in the last 23yrs. BAL had a historic defense last season, didn't exactly work out.
Yes I know DeJean was a CB, that was hyperbole.
I really have no idea what you’re talking about as the Chiefs had poor WR corps this year and a great defense

Thought when Turner fell to #16 that Seattle would be all over him since there's no way he should have been there. But they went with Murphy, which I am fine with. It was going to be defense. They just hired a defensive coach. The team traditionally selects defense. It certainly wasn't going to be a guard like every dumb mock drafter out there had. They'll pick a guard in round 3/4 and maybe 6 too.

Watching Payton, I’m almost wondering if part of the value of having Bill on this show is that it makes these historically secretive personnel guys comfortable sharing some football nerd process stuff.

I love it.
Fascinating interview.

I am in the very tiny minority who loves this pick for Atlanta but I am much on higher than Penix than anyone on this board. I have no opinion on their greater roster construction so this is purely based on Penix' talent.
I really like Penix, but him going to Atlanta was the surprise. I think he might be the second best QB in this draft.

yep this so galaxy brained stupid it’s hard to fathom

like people get paid millions and millions of dollars to do this stupid shit
Absolutely amazing to draft a guy this high specifically not to play for you for two years. And if Cousins is leading you to wins and division titles (very possible in that division) how can you even turn the keys over to someone else? And he’ll be a first year starter at like 26??

Sure it’s been done with #1 pick QBs but very different situations. Certainly none had a fresh ink-barely-dried big QB contract newly on the books.

Thanks. We missed that.

My son wanted them to stay put at 17 and draft a CB, but he’s ok with the deal with those two picks next year.
They should still have a decent choice of CB at 23. Philly will probably take one, but maybe no one else.

I wonder if the lack of professionalism leads to a comfortable atmosphere for these guests to open up a bit more.

Yeah my view is more that the eight spot was right for him even if its entirely fair to wonder what Atlanta's plan is for QB1. He went over JJM and Nix which felt right - now we will see if all the pre-draft negativity about his age, injury history, short throws, championship performance that had him in the second round was right.

This feels about the time NE could trade back into the 1st round without it getting too costly, if they wanted to.

Also had a tons of WR and OL talent around him (like McCorkle)

I mean, Bill’s analysis spend almost as much time pointing out missed throws and bad routes as they do all the highlights. It’s so much more interesting.

Has there ever been a draft before where the first 14 picks were all offense?
On the NFL broadcast they said there has never been a stretch of 13 straight picks from one side of the ball in any round of any draft. So yeah.

If you go by the points chart, moving up is still in a second round range for 34. Need it to drop 5 spots or so to be worth a third and to 30 or so to be worth a fourth. Efit — Actually given how high the Patriots third is, we are getting pretty close to where a trade could happen.

Love the Verse pick. He’s a tone setter and a mauler. He won’t be Donald, but he helps that unit maintain a swagger and edge.

Is the show over? Or is this just an extended break? I missed what they said.

Feels like it'd be good value to trade back from 34. Wolf said he wanted more picks.

I'm tempted to trade 34/68 to Philly for 22/120 to move up and take Brian Thomas Jr.

I'd not be surprised if the Eagles are looking to trade back a bit. If not, they'll have their choice of Arnold or Mitchell at CB, which is fucking shocking...

Right, but it's not going to cost them future 1sts or anything to move up from 34. It just feels like if they said, "we gotta get that guy", they're in a range where they could make it happen without it hurting too badly.

But with the way the board is looking, I'm perfectly fine standing pat right now.
