By their coach, too. They couldn't get assistant coaches to take over because of contact tracing, I presume.St.Lawrence was "Covided" out of the tournament.
Rough for the players.

Not Play Like A Champion Today
I have a real hard time rooting for UMass through my overwhelming jealousy.Hopefully UMass can do the state (and the region for that matter) proud in Pittsburgh.
Down their 1st and 3rd goalies, top scorer, and a 3rd linerUmass down 2-1 thru 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't UMass without it's top player and top 2 goalies due to Covid? I mean you can't get more disadvantaged than that.going into a huge game.
They were completely gassed. UMass had run them ragged in the 3rd and especially OT. They were only rolling 3 lines as well...Just watched the OT game winner. That was about the laziest play you'll see in a team's own zone. UMD had all kinds of time while UMass was changing and didn't do much. Then the turnover and fresh UMass legs results in the puck end up in the back of the net.
Ugh. Great dude, hockey lifer, really knew the game. RIPU.Maine coach Red Gendron died this afternoon on the golf course of a heart attack.
they were pretty good D2 and used to play at Orr rink at Amherst college...the program got killed in 1979 due to state budget cuts. Brought back as a D1 in 1994, I started at UMass the next fall.Hockey was a club sport I think when I went to UMass in the 70's. No rink. Pumped and jacked for the title game.
A beauty! 3-0, they got this.Oh man, what a shortie by Umass.
I believe the kids call that "sick"Oh man, what a shortie by Umass.
I love the guy for what he did for the program, but every time I see Mottau, I wonder why he isn't doing radio.definitely would rather see these 3 guys sitting around a desk over the kids skating around with a trophy. good job espn. no one likes seeing that kind of stuff.
