I won’t judge him too harshly. Masvidal is a good fighter.I threw the last 3 fights on. Till is so overrated.
Yeah he is. I like him. I was looking earlier today, and not too surprisingly, he’s only been KO’d once earlier in his career. And only a couple of finishes. I still think Till is overrated tho.I won’t judge him too harshly. Masvidal is a good fighter.

Seems like Till was very tentative once Masvidal hit that takedown and almost took his back. Almost like he was having trouble defending multiple threats.
Usman v. Gamebread is 10,000 times more interesting than Usman mugging that idiot Colby Covington for five rounds. Let Askren end Covington and give us Marty v. Masvidal.
Apparently he'll be out a year from his last fight with Cejudo. No word on the substance. I'm wondering if he took something to help with that horrendous weight cut.Dillashaw (16-4) announced Wednesday morning that he has "voluntarily relinquished" the UFC's 135-pound title after he was informed by the New York State Athletic Commission and the United States Anti-Doping Agency of an "adverse finding in a test taken for my last fight." ESPN confirmed the validity of the statement via multiple sources.
I don’t follow mma closely, but what was Thompson doing with his hands at his waist? That’s crazy.
It looked like he was just resetting and dropped his arms to shake them out, rather than holding them there consistently. He was more or less out of range and Pettis jumped.Honestly I just don't think he was expecting it. He doesn't remember getting hit according to his Instagram video.
That was about as close to a Hail Mary as you'll get in MMA. Pettis was being dominated and I think Wonderboy just got over confident.
A combination of being tired and keeping the balance with the side-kick, IMHO. When you’re not fresh, you compensate for the loss of balance with exaggerated body-lean in the opposite direction and letting your hands go out and down. That’s usually not fatal if the kick creates distance and you snap your hands back up after, but it’s definitely a vulnerable second that people try to exploit with their hands.Honestly I just don't think he was expecting it. Oh for sure. It’s just funny to me, or maybe telling, there hasn’t been an elite striker to transition. Some of these guys are elite wrestlers or bjj dudes, but I can’t think of someone with elite boxing or Muay Thai who has come over and dominated. Maybe Cung Le?Sure. And many are mid-level wrestlers, mid-level BJJ martial artists, mid-level kickboxers, etc, etc, too.
Harder to be an elite specialist when there are so many skills that have to be covered at some level, no?
I’d think a good striker would neutralize a lot of takedowns, especially a rangy guy good with angles. It's very hard to strike laying down.
Oh a ton. Like a shitload. I remember getting in a bar fight and some dude threw a kick at my head. Didn’t even see it coming. He was out of range and just missed, but I imagine I’d basically have to start from scratch to learn to defend kicks and takedowns. I’d probably hold my hands differently and my stance would likely change and where I looked at my opponent, angles, etc.Beyond all the BJJ and wrestling, just considering the striking element in MMA, I think an elite boxer would still need more than superb hands to be a good MMA striker. Knees, elbows, feet...how hard of an adjustment would that be for an elite boxer just in the striking realm, both offensively and defensively?
After reading some of the stuff you've posted, Marciano, I picture it taking thousands and thousands of hours to learn the nuances of boxing well enough to be elite. Honestly asking, how much muscle memory do you think you would need to change just to defend against a wider variety of strikes and ranges? I can't really picture how hard that would be.
